  1. Mainly because Windows 7 is really pretty good on Why Aren't People Abandoning Windows For Linux? (slashgear.com) · · Score: 0

I've been using 7 since it launched, or close to it, and really have not had any problems with it. I don't mind using it, I don't need to do anything special to maintain it and all of my games run well on it.

Once 7 is no longer supported by software manufacturers (read: the games I want to play won't run on it), I will make the jump to dual booting Windows 10 with whatever flavor of Linux is the most popular, and then using it as my everyday OS.

You're not missing anything, Iron Fist was terrible. Let's cast someone with no martial arts skills in a role as the world's greatest martial artist, and while we are at it, let's make sure they are anything but a compelling actor. But hey, we got his race correct!

  16. Loot boxes are not gambling on The FTC Says It Will Investigate Loot Boxes (kotaku.com) · · Score: 1

And not all games treat loot boxes in the same way.

Gambling is a chance to win back more money than you spent on the gamble, which is impossible to do when the money is converted into a loot box that is guaranteed not to contain more money than you spent on the box in the first place.

Loot boxes are a way for gaming companies to make money via microtransactions from people that know that the contents of the boxes are random, and may contain something they want, or may contain something they don't want, and are frequently irrelevant to the outcome of the game as they are only cosmetic.

Having just moved my desk in the office to somewhere *away* from the front windows, I don't want any more natural light!

Sitting up in the front of the building, you catch a real nice glare in the morning from the sun hitting all of the glass and chrome out in the parking lot and then again in the afternoon. That sunlight is like a laser beam, and it tended to come right through the holes in the blinds even when closed.

No thanks! My current corner of the office is much darker now and I am much happier for it.
