This something to do with circumcision?
I R00z j00!!!!!
...but when is the PC version coming out?
omg porn
I can't wait.
... that Apple's servers will survive this Slashdotting?
"Derp de derp."
Why is this newsworthy?
When IBM releases a new version of Domino, is there a posting on slashdot?
It is HIGHLY probable that more of Us(tm) have to deal with things like Domino, or Oracle AS, or what-have-you, then some consumer level video editing program.
So what? Apple released, no wait, is GOING TO release a new version of Final Cut.
Did you hear that SUN is going to "ignite" the "Adrenaline Rush" in "Java Technology" based games? Well I hope you didn't hear it on slashdot.
What the fuck? since when are press releases newsworthy? Surely when they relate to the geek population. How many video editors do you know who read slashdot? no, really. I know 0
I know 10 IT guys, 2 IT managers, and 4 programmers who read slashdot. They don't give a DAMN about some piece of software that they'll never use.
Buttsex.
piracy prevention system. Release software thats an 80GB INSTALL. Not that its neccessarily a bad thing, as FCP4 is really like 4 programs in one, but who has the bandwidth and patience let alone the HARD DRIVE space to use that. I'm going to have to get an external firewire had drive for my powerbook g4 just so I can run it...
Viva La Revolucion! Buy a Mac!
It wouldnt.

They have already distrobuted the box sets to local compusa stores. Talk to any manager and they will sell it to you early. Just mention you want to buy the service contract for it.

You assume that your demographic describes Slashdot, and you assume that what doesn't interest you, doesn't interest Slashdot.
Firstly, you don't know the demographic of Slashdot, most especially if you're complaining about an article posted in http://apple.slashdot.org, and not at http://slashdot.org.
Secondly, even if you *know* the demographic of Slashdot, the posts are at the discretion of our 'editors'/overlords. What they think is cool or newsworthy is posted; what you think is cool or newsworthy is much less important, though you do have your chance to submit to them, but in the end it is still their discretion.
That of course is besides the point. People who use Final Cut Pro 3 will look forward to and enjoy this post about the near release of Final Cut Pro 4, regardless of what you may feel.

All of my OS X friends love Final Cut Pro. I can't argue with them at all, since in my brief exposure to that product, it is a blast to use. However, if you have a PC, I highly recommend you try Vegas from Sonic Foundry.
Vegas and Reason from Propellerheads are the only reason I boot Windows at all (yes I know Reason is available on Macs), but they are also my favorite reason I have to turn on a computer in the first place.
Sorry about the mangled URL for Vegas. Here is the correct one, tested this time.
First of all they're now throwing in Cinema Tools for free, until now it costed a grand, then on top of that they are adding two new apps one for awseom titling the other for pro audio scoring, and on top of that they have added a slew of new and enhanced features with which the update could arguably have stood on its own.
The added value is just amazing. They effectively cut the total cost in half, while almost doubling the original value at the same time. Use this with their newly acquired shake for compositing and logic for audio, and you have a system which will make Avid tremble over thoughts of mass migration away from their quarter million dollar platforms, in favor of cheap and nearly as effective software based systems.
Apple has strengthened themselves against destruction. If the consumer thing ends up not working out. They can always go back to their pro market.
I'm hoping this version finally supports the Ken Burns Effect, and that they implement star wipes. Otherwise, what's the point?
You are not alone. This is not normal. None of this is normal.
From the "maybe-it-will-crash-less-than-imovie-does" dept? What the hell, I'll bite. In a year, I haven't had iMovie tank at all. I guess cleaning up my home videos before they hit the CD just ain't working the package over hard enough.
Luke, help me take this mask off
Am I the only one that's bitter from the experience with FCP3 not actually rendering things in real time, going against what it was originally touted to do? This is on a 450 dually mind you, but at the time of FCP3's release, it wasn't too antiquated.
I'm an editor and I read slashdot while waiting for my FCP renders to happen. I get a lot of time to read stuff.. Still, I think yr on the money there. Apple first anounced this months ago. this isn't really news.
I'm a new OS X user, having received my Powerbook on Wednesday night with the primary purpose of using it for multimedia.
I'm importing video as we speak, and iMovie has already crashed on me. True, the circumstances were both unusual and my fault - I tripped on cable, knocking it out of the camera. However, that should bring up a "Cannot commincate with camera" error, not suddendly bomb out.
Cheers,
Ian

I am a homosexual. I bought an Apple computer because of its well earned reputation for being "the" gay computer. Since I have become an Apple owner, I have been exposed to a whole new world of gay friends. It is really a pleasure to meet and compute with other homos such as myself. I plan on using my new Apple computer as a way to entice and recruit young schoolboys into the homosexual lifestyle; it would be so helpful if you could produce more software which would appeal to young boys. Thanks in advance.
with much gayness,
Father Randy "Pudge" O'Day, S.J.
Thanks for your letter. Being Catholic myself, I know exactly what you're talking about! It has always been our plan here at Apple Computer Inc to revolutionize personal computing with our high-quality and highly gay products.
I'm happy to answer your letter by letting you know that YES we will be releasing an entire hLife ("homo-life") software line. You'll be able to recognize it in stores by the small stylized logo depicting a large cock entering a tight anus with an Apple logo on it. ("Suddenly it all comes together" indeed!).
Anyway, I hope you and other members of our community will join us on our mission, and purchase the exciting new hLife boxed set. Only the boxed set comes with translucent cock rings!
Sincerely,
Harry Rodman
