Buffy - Chaos Bleeds Gets Staked Out

Thanks to Shacknews for pointing to a new Gamespot hands-on preview of Buffy The Vampire Slayer:Chaos Bleeds, and another hands-on preview at IGN. This Eurocom-developed follow-up to last year's The Collective-developed (and distinctly under-rated) Buffy The Vampire Slayer title for Xbox will, this time round, be available for Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox. IGN seems to think a lot of the title ("..even if you don't give a hoot about the Buffy universe, rarely does such a capable, well-rounded game come round that also retains a firmly established TV series at its core.") and Gamespot, though more reserved, also thinks it looks promising. And, of course, Buffy fans worldwide are salivating now they know Sid the dummy is a playable character.

In addition to all the other answers, Sid the dummy is the main character from the episode that brought us the immortal lines:

"Does anybody else feel like we've just been Keyser Soze'd?"

      and

"That's the kind of wooly-headed, liberal thinking that leads to being eaten."

  2. Hmm, no Alyson Hannigan this time.also by EvilBastard · · Score: 4, Informative

Giselle Loren as Buffy Summers, but IMDB still lists Alyson Hannigan as doing her character's voice. I wonder how hard they'll try to hide it this time - I recall in the first game they listed Giselle Loren as "Other Voices", to try to misdirect people.

I found her attempt to do a "Buffyisms" the 2nd most annoying part of the game, beaten only by the textbook failure in game design that was the "Dream Level" which is where I abandoned the game at.

The show sounds good. There are many fans of it on here (Well, I hope it is good, unlike Farscape which is pretty bad but also has many fans on Slashdot). However, one of the "Telecommunication acts" of the 1990s contained a provision that would make my cable company pay a fine for carrying an actual UPN affiliate (with Buffy). So much for that.

BTVS is in the process of coming out of DVD, and it's some of the cheapest TV releases I've ever seen... Amazon has the entire first season for $29.99, and other available seasons for $45. Alternately, you can rent them from Netflix, and probably your decent local independent-type video store, too.
