Ars Technica Interviews 970 Designers
11223 writes "John "Hannibal" Stokes has interviewed Pete Sandon, the PowerPC 970's main designer, and David Edelsohn, a compiler writer from IBM, and clarified several points about the 970 regarding group formation, vector issue queues and performance, and more. The interview is a very interesting read for anyone who has been following his earlier articles on the processor that Apple calls the G5."

P.S. I'll be back soon.
The word is Macintosh not McIntosh or any other fucked up variant. And your problems 1 and 2 could have been found out before purchasing the system. The 3rd one could have been too, although I do see that as a valid concern.

...this is largely irrelevant to slashdot readers, since it doesn't run Windows, and most of the readers don't understand why.

I have found a few bugs, such as loud 3 am meowing, but I think you'll find a greatly improved user experience. It also scales to the 970 PPC processor, making your cat the fastest ever!
Damn you, Tommy Tutone!!
It's funnier than yours
Dear Father Sims
Thank you for your kind letter! Being a former Catholic priest myself, I know exactly what you are talking about! It has been our dream at Apple Computers ever since we began in the 80's to shape the homosexual experience with the ultimate computer.
I can answer your letter by saying that YES we will indeed be making a firewire version of the FUFME. With the additional bandwidth offered by the firewire bus, we will be able to more accurately record and deliver more minute and subtle movements that the USB FUFME simply couldnt support due to lack of bandwidth. You will be able to recognize our firewire FUFME in stores by the fancy holographic logo of a cock entering an Apple.
We are glad to help loyal customers such as yourself. If you ever have any more questions, feel free to drop a line (or connect to my teledildonic FUFME server on fufme://cockman.apple.com).

moderators: +1 funny, plz. ok thx.
the problem is that your PC doesn't actually copy the file. it just pretends to copy it.
any attempts at trying to access your copied file on the nt computer will cause it to crash
so the mac is taking more time because it's doing it a right way, after all, new electrons have to be created by ionizing the oxygen in the atmosphere to put on your drive, electrons don't just pop up from nowhere
accept no substitute that windows nt offers you with those recycled piece of crap electrons
Incredible! You do the CLIT proud!
rtfa!
...to see what this thing will be like running Windows Longhorn woth its cool 3D UI. It'll give AMD a run for their money. I bet Visual Basic code runs reel fast on this baby!

It's offtopic because this guy is a troll, he posts the same message around the internet over and over and over again. He's not interested in actually fixing his "slow drive" problem but in fact it's a troll. No you know.
> I've been sitting here on my sofa in front of a cat (a sealpoint siamese) for about 20 minutes now while attempting to get it's attention away from a bug on the floor. 20 minutes.
:)
I guess that the labrador cross is smarter than you. I doubt it'd spend 20 minutes trying to get the cat to do anything. Another thing you should consider is that having an attention span of under 2 minutes isn't exactly a resounding vote for 'intelligence' in an animal.
> I've never seen a cat that fetches as much as it's canine counterpart
You clearly don't understand cats. Cats don't fetch. Dogs fetch. Humans fetch. Cats do not fetch.
> From a productivity standpoint, I don't get how people can claim that the cat is a superior animal.
There is no measurable ROI for a cat. If that's what you want out of a pet, get a dog. Clearly you prefer dogs, so why not just stick with dogs? Dogs are like Windows. Cats are like Linux. Cats just aren't for you - why put yourself through the aggravation?
nt.
Cats do not fetch.
Most cats don't fetch. My cousin had one that would fetch most any object it could get into its mouth, although its favorite was a comb.
We sat around one afternoon and played fetch with the comb and the cat -- it'd grab it from almost anywhere, and would actually bring it back to us. I thought it was rather unusual, and my cousin said that they don't remember doing anything specific to condition the cat to fetch -- one day they tossed something and the cat grabbed it and brought it to them. Lather, rinse, repeat and the cat is a retriever.
It's the real thing - Coke.
And they sang...
I'd like to buy the world a home / And furnish it with love / Grow apple trees and honey bees / And snow white turtle doves.
Chorus:
I'd like to teach the world to sing / In perfect harmony / I'd like to buy the world a Coke And keep it company / That's the real thing.
(Repeat chorus)
I'd like to teach the world to sing / In perfect harmony / I'd like to buy the world a Coke / And keep it company
That's the real thing
Chorus 2: /(background) Is the real thing
What the world wants today / Coca-Cola
(Repeat chorus 2) /(background) Is the real thing
What the world wants today / Coca-Cola
I'd like to teach the world to sing / Sing with me / (background) In perfect harmony / I'd like to buy the world a Coke / And keep it company / That's the real thing
(Repeat chorus)
I'd like to teach the world to sing / In perfect harmony / I'd like to buy the world a Coke / And keep it company / That's the real thing.
(Chorus 2)
What the world wants today / Coca-Cola / (background) Is the real thing
(Repeat chorus 2)
What the world wants today / Coca-Cola / (background) Is the real thing
just for clarification, my cat does fetch. Ok, he'll only fetch his rubber "squeaky" fish, and only when i throw it down the stairs, but he does fetch it. 'my cat cand beat up your cat"
