Mozilla 1.5 Alpha Available

An anonymous reader writes "Mozilla.org released Mozilla v1.5 alpha today, with flavors available for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows. Some of the new features include Composer enhancements, Chatzilla logging, multiple tab window closing confirmation, and quicksearch support in about:config. A more detailed rough changelog is also available. In a somewhat related note, Mozilla 1.4 has been downloaded over a half million times in the past 3 weeks (not counting mirrors)."

Development work on the browser, at this point, is pretty pointless. The work will be depricated before the next stable release. The only thing that will drastically improve the gecko engine is an overhaul.

Where can I get the source code for Opera?

Ok, I think that's enough "open source" chanting for one day, jizzmop. I'd be willing to put $100 on the fact that you know zilch about programming and would never, EVER look at the source. Plus, Opera's--get this--just a better browser.

Not to mention Mozilla's excellent cross-platform support.

BULL-FUCKING-SHIT. If you knew anything, you'd know that the Linux, Windows, et cetera codebasen are quite different!

Hoover move asside. Nothing can harness the power of that 90 Watt processor for sucking like Mozilla.

Do you have some spare clock cycles? Is that new P4 just too fast? Not to worry, Mozilla will suck all the CPU time right up rendering Yahoo's hompage.

But that's not everything! Mozilla is great at sucking system memory -- not to mention your swap!

Plus, with the huge download size it's bound to suck up all your bandwidth.

Mozilla stands tall against the competition! It sucks more than: Windows 95, Solaris x86, StarOffice, Mac OS X 10.0, Java before JIT.

For industrial sucking use: SCO, RIAA (add Metallica for extra sucking), MPAA.

"Firebird is small, fast, innovative and feature-packed."

Except Opera is smaller and faster, and Firebird rips off all of Opera's features, rather than innovating itself. Just look at the Firebird forums! 99% of the discussions there are about mimicking Opera.

So the only reason to use Firebird is if you are a fanatical OSS zealot. Opera is smaller, faster, with more innovative features in a more integrated package. Rather than try to follow other browsers, Opera innovates and breaks new ground. Firebird just tries to become the open-source Opera.

    And fails.
