    Now look i don't want to start a holy war here, but what is the deal with you Perl fanatics?
    I've been sitting here at my freelance gig in front of a 2GHz Pentium 4 box (1 Gig of RAM) for about 20 minutes trying to understand this Perl program. 20 minutes !. Using Python on my Pentium Pro 233 running Win98ME , the same program would take about 2 minutes to understand. If that.
    In addition, my brain has ground to a halt trying to understand this regular expression:

    s/ (?![]})\w.])'[^'\n]*(?:''[^'\n]*)*'/ '' /gx;

    I won't bore you with the laundry list of other problems that I've encountered while working with Perl, but suffice it to say there have been many, not the least of which is I've never seen a Perl program that's easier to understand than it's Python counterpart, despite the fact Perl's been around longer. From a productivity standpoint, I don't get how people can claim that Perl is a superior programming language.

    Perl addicts, flame me if you'd like, but I'd rather hear some intelligent reasons why anyone would choose to use Perl over a faster, easier, more stable, proper object orientated language.

    Blame not Perl for the fact that your predecessor neglected to type:

    #Here is a wild, experimental regex that I thugged off the internet.
    #It worked with my simple test file, but who knows if this dog will hunt on prodution.
