Debian: A Brief Retrospective

I have been trying for several days to download the ISO's on the MIPS version of Debian. My main irritaton with this is the fact that the FTP keeps timing out. I have an SGI Indy IP22 r4400 and am curious about what else I can do with this. What will run on it?? What kind of device drivers are available and will it run a cool desktop like Ximian? Any help here without obfuscation would be of a great service to me.

you can pretend all you want. our advise is to be as far away from the walking dead contingent as possible, when the big flash occurs. you wouldn't want to get any of that evile on you.

If I wanted to spend three hours doing something pointless and unproductive (I.E. installing Debian and then trying to get X to run), I would just sit down with a Macintosh user and try explain to them that their new Mac is not worth $2,000, even though it is finally as fast as last year's x86 offerings.
average gentoo user trusts the system even more since gentoo isn't as strict on new things.
