P2P Music Sharing Remains Popular Despite RIAA
KarmaOverDogma writes "The New York Times reports that the RIAA's attempts to cut down on (music) file sharing are slow to show any effect, as much of the public still considers the activity to be useful and/or acceptable. P2P filesharing activity has decreased very little since they began their end-user legal campaign."
you all first posters suck, cause I am the frist proster today!
Byooah in yuor fcae RAIA!!!!
Neither black nor white. These freaks are a menace to all sane people any where. Should you see one of these ape aping buffoons, run before their contaminates you with their anti-aryan skank.
Recently all my friends have stared asking me if its safe to download from kazaa, I told them don't use that shit.
I installed eMule for them and showed them how to get full albums and movies.
So I guess the RIAA is winning against kazaa users but p2p is here forever!!! Just now I have downloaded transgaming wineX off eMule, its got everything you can think of.

I'm sure this will be controversial, but trolls need love too. In fact, trolls probably need more love than your average slashbot - slashbots get positive reinforcement, after all.
There. I've stated the painful truth: trolls need love. Now let me tell you why.
Most of us were abused as children, or are being abused now, or have suffered mightily in some way. We have self esteem problems, we don't have confidence, we don't feel loved. We want positive attention and all the things "normal" people have, but we feel like we are unworthy of it.
An old saying rings true here: "If the only potato chip a hungry child can have is a soggy potato chip, there is nothing more important to that child than the soggy potato chip." Well, that describes us trolls perfectly. We are hungry for attention and all we know is that we do not warrant positive attention, so we type "fristus postus" and post goatse links and shoot for the negative potato chip of a (-1 Troll), or a (-1 Flamebait). Off-topic and redundant mods are like half a soggy potato chip - just enough to whet the appetite for more.
So do the world a favor. end the cycle of abuse. Mod one troll - just one - up, and you will be rewarded for life because you gave a hungry child a dry potato chip. Share the love, won't you?
Warning. about the parent. you know the drill. mod down.

Onward to the Aether Sphere!
And this is why people will not stop sharing files. Their morals or belief system says its morally right to share, in this situation nothing is lost when they share files so why not?
Just because YOU don't support the law, that doesn't mean that you have a blank check to defy it. If we defied all the laws we didn't like, it wouldn't be much of a civilization, would it?
The only way to change laws in this country is to defy them. It worked for alcohol, at one point alcohol was illegal, it worked for porn too, porn was illegal at one point.

Sorry, but if you commit a crime but don't get caught, it doesn't nullify the fact that you committed a crime. Sure, you're not getting punished for it, which seems to be the important part, but a crime was still committed.
Likewise, you're still infringing on copywritten materials if you download mp3s through the p2p-du-jour... but as long as the RIAA hasn't sued you yet, you don't have that personal and up close feeling of punishment in the form of a hefty fine.

Mr. Hu is not a ninja.
Because the law currently says pot is illegal, case closed. They may not be evil for smoking pot, and maybe pot should be legal. But until it is, using it is a crime. No debate here.
So would you have said the same thing to those who defied the probition laws? YOu can't get drunk now it's aginst the law move on.
It never ceases to amaze me that so many people here rage at the fact that people get sued and prosecuted for doing illegal things just because they disagree with the law.
If the law is unjust why souldn't we get upset that they have and will continue to ruin lives with it.
What they need to be doing is trying to get those laws changed.
THey are working on it and have been making progress in many states.
And if you can't get them changed, and the majority of the public does NOT support your position on getting it changed, tough luck, you lose, move on. THe problem isn't the the majority of the public doesn't support it, it's that the 'voting' public don't realy mind that it's illeagal they have thier prozac, and xanax... and other stuff to abuse.
That's how it works in a democratic republic It isn't how it works in a democratic republic. In a democratic republic we elect a few people they make stupid laws and then the majority has to disobey the law and fight it every inch for it to even have a chance to change. People forget that the majority of people who have been convicted of having pot over a few grams can not vote anymore. Get cought with a little coke dust on your baggie felony! for a little dust! drive a little drunk felony. Poke a officer in the chest fellony. Over 15 grams on pot... felony. That is how they plan on keeping it illegal, scare a bunch of people by putting out false information, and make sur the rest are considered losers because they are felons. If you can pass out enough felonys to anyone who has done wrong once, then you phase out real people and the only voters are those who belive 'it's illegal it must be wrong' THis is also their plan to 'stiff' most blacks on their right to vote. They control more in our life than most people relise. IT's not one or two people, it's the masses of 'religous zelots' the bible beaters who want their nose in your life. but now more and more the false inormation is being proven wrong, but it is a hard struggle. If you ask the goverment for money to research the harmfull effects of any drug, chances are you'll get a little funding. If you want to research the benifits, you better have your own budget.
So, I think your confusing a democratic country where the people count with a democratic republic where people don't count, the people we elect do. these people who are elected are elected by about 13% of the population. They are mostly 'clean' and try to put distance between their self and illegal acts because the few that vote belive that breaking a law is wrong no matter what. Consider this, Most of our presidents have used drugs bush(cocaine) bill(pot), and others in the past before their was a law, probaly did the whole range of drugs. Did it harm them? did it stop them from reaching the highest office of goverment in america. no. In another 25 years the effects of the 'scare campain' will fade more and pot will be decrimilised more and more. The goal of most pro-pot groups right now is to educate people of the truth, it's too early to make a major push aginst the laws written into effect to protect the financial intrests of a few, and the religous views they used to get it accepted. Like the national speed limit of 55, how long did it take for it to get changed? It got passed because of a shortage of gas, then they didn't want to raise it afterwards. For how many years was the law useless but still enforced? All because people just went 65 and took the chance becuase it didn't bother them untill they got a ticket. Just as now, studys are showing close to 90% of americans have used illegal drugs once, 75% of highschool seniors have used pot in the last year, peo
