Oscar Screener Ban to be Revoked for Academy Members
bigjocker writes "Yahoo is reporting that the ban to distribute screeners copies will be revoked. The bad news is that only members of the Academy will receive them." It's still unclear how this will affect events such as the Golden Globe awards. According to the article, several critics' organisations have yet to decide their reaction. I'm guessing that at the least, Academy members are pleased to know they won't have to find a theatre to screen award nominees.
Can't be bothered to go see the movie in a real theatre and risk rubbing elbows with the hoi-polloi! No, we'll just give our free DVD to our assistant as a Christmas bonus when we're done with it. OOOOPSIE!
This is a slashdot story? Any word on Demi or Ashton to go along with this Hollywood minute? Who cares if a bunch of movie freaks have to either sit at home or go to a theater to do their job? Give me a break. The only reason this got any press in the mainstream was because the hollywood nuts whined so freaking loud.
This has zero to do with technology, nerds, or stuff. It doesn't even qualify as news.
