Novell Announces Agreement to Acquire SUSE
Mickey Hill writes "Novell today announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire SUSE LINUX, one of the world's leading enterprise Linux companies, expanding Novell's ability to provide enterprise-class services and support on the Linux platform. Novell expects the transaction to close by the end of its first fiscal quarter (January 2004). This latest move follows Novell's August purchase of Ximian."
Let's face it: Novell is a company with no future.
Looks like linux is heading for the toilet. Good thing my company stayed with Microsoft.
Remember when these two companies were relevant?
I have recently listened to some talks inside the GNOME Irc channel where I heard some Ximian employees mentioning that Novell told them to work on KDE stuff now. From the internals of Novell it sounds like their employees are more interested to work with KDE rather than GNOME because that employee listed a long list of complaints that the Novell people raised which they found in GNOME to be totally out of use.
what are you talking about? Apple give back code modifications to the OSS world.
are you a retard or something? the GPL says that any code modification you make to GPL code you must make those open under the GPL.
it says nothing about forcing all code that is in the vicinity of the GPL code to be GPLed....do you want MS to have a real argument against using GPL code when they say "it is viral"? moron.
I am the Alpha and the Omega-3
hey dumbass. maybe I was not clear... Apple using a rendering enguine that is GPL does not mean that tehy have to release Quatrz or Aqua under the GPL. that was my point, Apple returns all the code that they modify, and that is all they are required to do.
I am the Alpha and the Omega-3
Hey, dip-stink. Learn how to spell. It is "problem", not pr0blem. Feeling insecure today?
real geeks hate soap operas.
Because Troll Tech didn't have the balls to kick the SCO board member out, that's why Novell is going with Ximian, besides one of Troll Tech's majority share owner is SCO.
Basically SCO owns QT and therefore KDE.
