It isn't that developers are focusing on bloat, but that they're trying to avoid making Linux like Windows. Personally, I find this to be very sad, but Linux wouldn't be where it is if the developers really listened to Windows users.
It's funny, coz I have seen so many folks online talk about their "relocation for a better job" and it turns out they're just relocating because they can't find a job:-)
Just yesterday I got back from neurological testing. They ran tests on my brain's reponse to physical, visual and auditory stimula. The end result is that the MRI on my brain turned out fine, but that the MRI on my upper neck reveals two disk obtrusions. Guess where all that comes from? From sitting at the computer for hours on end without exercies, carrying that over-loaded backpack I was carrying around to my college classes, and then over-exerting myself (carrying way too many groceries at once) after not having had much exericse or activity in general. Folks, regardless of your age, please try to think about the consequences of your actions concerning your health. Make it an attempt to take a break away from the computer. If you're a programmer, taking a break will really help to clear your head. Stretch on your breaks. Forget about thinking you will look like Richard Simmons. This is your life at stake. Do anything that you need to do to keep your muscles relaxed and flexible, to keep your joints well-oiled, to keep your spirit and mind on a high note. While I do not have a deadly disease like MS or ALS, I do have this physical therapy to go through and the thought hanging over my head for years to come, that if I do not watch what I am doing in the future, there will be far worse things in store than just physical therapy and 3 800MG tables of Ibuoprofen a day.
Do you suck your thumb at night? You come across as if you have some serious self esteem issues. I'm sure that anyone could here could use the Dictionary to come up with BIG WORDS as you just made an ass out of yourself in trying to do. When you truely understand the concepts you're parroting, come back and teach the rest of us:-)
Having read your post, it seems you spent about 30 minuts reading avogato and another 30 minutes perusing Dictionary, to come up with your stupid post.
As much as I appreciate the speed of broadband and DSL, with the content-full-of-crap that we call the Internet today, my wife and I have considered going back to dialup. I know, not MUCH of a difference in price between speedy Internet and dialup, and speedy Internet has a far better ROI. Still, given that the Internet just isn't what it used to be (worse IMO), why waste your time anymore than checking and sending email?
Why do I get the feeling that Dr. Craig Hall is nothing more than a frustrated 20 year old college student who can't get his professors to tell him how to get into the IT field? Seriously, guys, you think a medical professional is going to be sitting here on slashdot? I don't know ONE that would be!
You are full of shit, pal. The ONLY way that you're going to get offered such a pathetic price for a book is if you 'gouged' your book with a knife. What did you do to your book, color in it? I've been to several colleges and uni's and have seen none of what you're claiming to have seen.
This very issue also exists in the Linux community. Debianists are perhaps the WORST when it comes to asking for assistance from them. They're experts at tearing you down. Visit #debian for proof.
As a worker in the medical field, my employer uses this technology. Whenever I clock in, I just enter my code then insert my fingers between the pegs (for lack of a better term) and squeeze the pegs for about a second or less. If successful, the system, if not it asks me to reinsert my hand. When I clock out I go through the same exact procedure.
Pure and simple. It is the news, where they spin everything then change the facts without acknowledging an informational screw-up. It is the stupid "reality" show crap, where NONE of it is reality. It's all scripted theatrics, anyone that has watched a lot of television and knows how shows are put together knows this fact. Ever watch the Crocadile man (that silly man who held his baby's hand while feeding the aligator) show on Animal Planet? It's scripted. The aligators are real, but the crowd and his exaggerated commentary are all scripted. Every show has a gozillion commercials. You can't even watch a sports event on television now, without 20 freaking television timeouts. So, other than "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "King of Queens" and watching my UK Wildcats (men's college hoops), I stay away from the television as far as I can.
Because, numbskull, there are quite a few folks who actually get tired of looking at a monitor. Unlike Linux zealots like you, who couldn't figure your way out of a paper bag, let alone out of your cold, dark basement, people actually have lives. I don't know, like taking care of children, working, etc? Therefore, it reasons to stand that maybe purchasing a book would be cheaper than printing out the stuff from the web, and healthier than sitting in front of a screen hours on end. You figure it out.
seriously looking at pursuing four-year degrees for either Radiology or Accounting, or both. Neither are easily out-sourcable. Actually, I like taking care of people, and while Radiology certainly has its risks, you are not in physical contact with patients to the degree that, say for example nurses, are.
LOL, I was thinking the same thing. Typical worthless geeks, who think that anything obfuscated that they have read was must be "rare and elite and one of wisdom".
DUMBFUCK

And your point is?
To say that "when you are most tired" proggie is extremely lame, is an understatement to the extreme.
VERY GOOD POST! It's amazing how nerds try to make a science out of something they have no fucking clue about.

And, may I ask where you are parroting this information from? That's right, a Slashdot article from not long ago :=)

I don't know, perhaps it's because you seem indulged in your green-leaf pipe?
My, my, my. How the Desparation Of Geeks Looking For Fame runs rampant here.
Why the regurgitation? Anyone that wants to read a feel-good story on Linux can just search at google.

Anybody that still thinks "free as in beer" cliche is worthy of use needs to answer this question: Do you know ANYTHING?

Stupid slashdot site, submit function isn't working right. Why am I suprised?

Very well said. Admittedly I had never thought of it in that way :)
