Rekall Now Available Under GPL

Karma Sucks writes "Rekall is one of those killer apps alongside Scribus, Evolution, OpenOffice and Mozilla that could make all the difference for Linux desktop productivity. For those of you not in the know, Rekall is a RAD DBMS similar to MS Access or Paradox and has now been GPL'ed by theKompany. Community development and organization is to take place on rekallrevealed.org."

    Now we have a very good, strong set of base apps for the GNU/Linux OS that goes well beyond what comes with Windows. Think about it. Out of the Red Hat^H^H^HDebian box^H^H^Hdistro, you get OpenOffice.org and KOffice for office apps, Mozilla, Lynx, Galeon and Konqueror for browsers, Pine, Balsa, Evolution and Mozilla for e-mail, a webserver, IRC server, FTP server, News server, two SQL servers (at least!) and now this! Windows gives you IE and... Notepad. Way to go, GNU/Linux!

      Every time Microsoft tries to bundle even a minor utility with the OS, never mind big apps, everyone on Slashdot starts whining about evil abuse of monopoly power.

      So, yeah, they leave you with IE and Notepad. There's a court order about that, remember?

    The New California Governor has just announced an agreement whereby
    English will be the official language of the state, rather than German,
    which was
    the other possibility.

    As part of the negotiations, The Terminator's Government conceded that
    English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year
    phase-in plan that would become known as "Austro-English" (or,
    perhaps even better, "Austrionics").

    In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will
    make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in
    favour
    of the "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less
    letter.

    There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the
    troublesome "ph" will be replaced with the "f". This will make words like
    fotograf 20% shorter.

    In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to
    reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

    Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always
    ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes
    of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

    "z" and "w" with "v".
