Best use of AOL disks: coasters for your chilly ice drinks. Sometimes during power outages, I take some ice cubes out of my dark freezer, use them to chill a glass of apple juice from my dark refrigerator, and I sip it all very slowly and comfortably knowing that until the power comes back on, I can have a few moments of freedom from my internet addiction. The sure knowledge that the AOL disk below my glass is protecting my computer desk from certain water damage goes a long way towards calming my frayed nerves.
