Son of Concorde

targo writes "BBC reports that EADS is considering a new generation hypersonic commercial aircraft. "Son of Concorde" would be twice as fast, carry twice as many passengers while being much quieter than its predecessor. It would get from Tokyo to Paris in just two hours, US destinations are not mentioned. However, as Japan's failure last summer suggests, it might not happen too easily."

    I'm not too impressed. But then again, I won't be impressed until they're delivering the Heart of Gold to my doorstep.

    Somehow reading too much scifi makes it harder to enjoy new technology.

    Another way to look at this is, what could we do with all the development money ? Lets say 2 billion, for fun. What would 2B buy the US econdomy if put into battery and solar panel and wind and better motor controllers ??
    I think we all know that a country with better battry and light bulb and solar panel technologys would be the economic powerhouse of the centruy

    is a shoe-in for the airline industry.

    Even if the building of the Son of Concorde loses popularity, the Supreme Court will simply will it into existance regardless, since 5 of the 9 were associated in some way with Daddy Concorde.
