It is also worth noting that while _some_ ISP's in Australia try to charge an Arm and 2x Legs for going over your CAP most ISP's offer a "Speed Cap" where your speed is limited if you use more data than you have purchased.

Also there is at least one ISP that I know of that allows its users to by extra data if they want / need more than their standard plan allows for a calendar month.

Oh an to all of those people who are bitching that "bandwidth is cheap" have you ever wondered why your 20Mbit Cable connection typically runs at something _much less_ than that??

    FYI I pay $70AUD (~$48USD) per month for a 1.5mbit / 256kbit DSL line with 40Gb of data.

This is from one of the more expensive / boutique providers in AU. You can get DSL a whole lot cheaper, but the quality of the connection, speed of downloads and support suffers greatly.

While this is true and i do agree with you. you still need to pay for those products up front.

unless i am missing something the support service offered by Ubuntu / Canonical ( spl ) are support contracts .. the products are still free to use up front, and you only pay for support if you have a problem or want support for a large project.

this still leans towards comunity based support for most ppl , but gives the PHB's that nice warm feeling they get when they have someone to call on / point the finger at

Problem was this fellow was of a religion ( cant remember which one ) that forbade alcohol. So he goes back to the station for a blood test and Lo for the blood test came back negative for alcohol.

And now blood tests are needed to convict on DUI and "blowing in the bag" is used to see if a blood test is needed.
