First Review Of Return Of The King

dipfan writes "Newsweek has a first review of the third instalment of LOTR - and gives it two thumbs up: "Judging from a recent Newsweek screening in New Zealand, The Return Of The King is a sure contender for best picture. More than that, it could be the first franchise ever that didn't, at the end of the day, let audiences down--either because of laziness, pretension, greed or other phantom menaces. This is an especially poignant possibility at a time when we can all still smell the smoke from the wreckage of The Matrix." Fingers crossed. There's also an entertaining piece on LOTR gaffes with comments from Peter Jackson (such as 'Well, it's too late to fire anyone,' and 'We didn't think Elijah looked very good with pus')."

    Ever since the World Trade Center collapsed, the world has been polarized even more than it already is. "Us vs them" is prevalent everywhere and more pronounced than in recent years: USA vs terrorists, Muslims vs USA, Everyone vs USA!, etc etc. This movie is an epic, very much like the classics of old (well-defined good vs bad, where good wins despite the bad, FYI).

    Almost EVERYONE can relate to these movies because you can envision yourself as hobbits/wizards/kings against the Dark Lord (USA/terrorists/muslims/Bush).

    Personally, it's me vs Sauron!

    Yes, you fucking lib, peace IS wonderful, but at what price? The price Zion pays is living in peace with the knowledge that the rest of humanity (99%?) is living in slavery to the machines. The price of the peace you would choose for us is "peace" under militant Islamist rule. Fuck your peace.

    I'm sorry its boring poeple, its about fuck all, and in the end ther's not even a face off with the main evil.

    Yes this may be the souce of all D&D but its still fucking boring crap.

    By the way Liked Matrix 3, better than the second, less than the first.
