Israeli Gov't Begins Testing Mandrake Linux

DJStealth writes "According to this article on Arutz 7/Israel National News, the Israeli Gov't is beginning to move away from Microsoft and is testing localized versions of Mandrake Linux in the Treasury dept. as the contract with MS expires this month. This all despite a recent defense ministry contact with MS."

    I should add new copyright rules to my open source programs.

    'This software should not be used in israel or by israeli (jewish) citizens'.

    I'm not supporting these Zionists with my property. I don't see the point spending all my spare time for software that is being used by enemies. They should first stop killing people of the arab world.

      Well I would vote for free bombs as in freely blowing up jews. Unfortunately blackpowder (which is required to make bombs) costs money. I haven't found a store which belives into free giving away blackpowder.

    No kidding. Isreal is a f***ked up place to be sure, but it's a lot less f***ked up then any other place in the Middle East.

    Arabs do hold public elected office, do own land, have businesses and are successfull and enjoy most the same freedoms that their Jewish counterparts do. Not all Arabs in Isreal are Palestinians.

    The palestinian stuff is unfortunate, but if you have had half-a-brain then you'd remember that Bush and Isreal offered a independant palistinian state. But this isn't good enough for people like the Yasser Arafat who believe that ALL of Isreal should be Palastinian and the only good Jew is a dead Jew.

    How do you live with people like that? It's not the palistian people's fault that their leadership are thugs and are essentially terrorists, but they are the ones that pay for it.

    Now how does that compare to other middle eastern states like Iran or Saudi Arabia were I can go to jail for carring a bible around and possibly executed for trying to convert a citizen to christianity? Isreal may have some very bad mojo, but that pale in comparision to those that surround her that are bent on it's destruction. Hell until recently it was in most country's (in that area) constitutions that there purpose for existance is to wipe all jewish presence from the middle east.

    They can't fight Isreal due to the entire population being armed to the teeth and US's support, so they use the palistian people as a weapon.

    So get off of your high horses and realize that you have realy no clue what your talking about.

    Worry about your own stinking commerce dept you brit twit. Trust me, we think of this bullshit more than you, concentrate on voting your own crappy pm out and we will take care of our due, this is our right.

    Last I checked this was the States Of America (notice the lack of United, I am a northerner that still believes in what Jackson was fighting for, not that visionary Lincoln), and you have no sway here, as we should not in your own crappy country.

    I doubt it. Everybody knows that Israel's economy is suffering badly. Unless the U.S. government has reason to believe that the decision was politically motivated, and I don't see how this can be the case, they shouldn't be offended that the Israeli government is trying to cut costs. It's not like they switched from expensive American software to expensive French software. Mandrake is cheap and is one of the most popular and user-friendly Linux distributions out there. It's a reasonable and practical decision for many people to switch to it.

    I *was* using Mandrake and just last weekend switched to Suse. Glad that I did now.

    I was debating if I should stick it out and stay with Suse or be lazy and switch back to Mandrake which is EASY.

    Now that I see that the terrorist state of Israel is using Mandrake, this gives me good cause to stick with Suse and stay away from Mandrake.
    I boycott ALL prodocts made in Israel and I try to boycott products embraced by Israel.
