This has got to be the least-cared-about story on Slashdot, ever. =)

Yes it looks like it. ekkoBSD might be more interesting is if we had a nice phrase to go with it (like how portability goes with netbsd and so forth... we even know dfbsd aims to be high performance). We still don't -know- what ekkoBSD is for. My best guess right now is quick setup.

Of course, having a nice phrase, motto, whatever isn't a guarentee to stardom.

I see that anti-BSD posts are being modded down - as they should be.

My post is in NO way anti-bsd. I simply quoted the site for the EkkoBSD Project. Seriously. Read it. I think people assumed it was a troll because of the length and the use of bold letters. Sorry if I confused anyone! I use FreeBSD and OpenBSD all the time

But why is someone with the username of gnu-sucks (the parent poster) modded up?

My username defines my opinion of the GNU GPL. By the way, all BSD operating systems (except gnudarwin) are licensed under the BSD license - and thats one thing I like about BSD. Its not GNU.

Honest, I mean good here people! And I'm glad someone finally noticed my username... Linux is great, btw, I just prefer BSDs, and I find the BSD license much more commercially successful.

A pleasant evening to you all.

Thats fine. You should be allowed to have your opinions. But the problem is that the moderation here is one-sided and penalizes anyone who criticizes BSD but has no problem with people who bash Linux. Therefore the hypocrisy in the moderation going on around here.

I'm sorry you feel that way - I'm a fair moderator, and I don't specifically mod down posts due to which unix the poster prefers or dislikes. I don't see the hypocrisy in moderation - the same diverse group that posts to slashdot (minus the trolls and the anonymous cowards) gets to moderate the discussions. If you feel this is unfair, as all the moderators have different opinions, I suppose its your right to feel that way.

BTW, most of the posts on slashdot critical of BSD are automatically posted by various slashdot bots. They're the same post EVERY TIME. Some of them are years old.

As for linux bashing, its rare. Most people here don't even see a difference between linux and open source. Notice the posts about KDE's new file i/o interface. It was posted as "something new for linux" (or something similar). Nobody even assumed it might work on a more popular unix-like system, such as Mac OS X.

Anyway, if you don't like the moderation, stop posting anonymously, and maybe you'll be moderating soon. The system is only as perfect as its participants.

You think moderation should be based on the poster's choice of username? That would certainly simplify the moderation interface, people with mod points could just be given a list of today's sign ups to score.

Of course, since you chose to be `Anonymous Coward' you'd get -1000000 on every post.

I think you may have forgotten to engage brain before posting.

Review my posts, and then tell me I'm trolling.
Refering to BSD users, as "lusers" - absolutely classic. What is this, the third grade? That's why all my Linux buddies say the BSD's are "too hard" for them, right?

    Right.
(Which, in itself that statement is laden with humor, to me)

There's a multitude of Cut and Paste trolling going on, if you'd only pay attention. Am I crying to /.? No, I'm methodically disproving their posts. Don't try and nix free speech, people are free to say what they wish, no matter how oblivious they are to the facts.
