Lindows becomes Lindash

Daveh writes "The Register is reporting that 'The operating system Lindows is now available as Lin---s (pronounced: Lin-dash) in those countries where Microsoft has blocked the availability of the desktop Linux distribution. The new name complies with a recent Amsterdam court ruling (PDF), the San Diego company says.' There are a few new sites to reflect the name change, including Lin---s.com and Lindash.nl."

...I'm going home. They come across like Cartman when things don't go his way. This is a rather childish move and it's moves like this that will not get them adopted in the corporate world and this is definitely not a distribution I'd recommend to my friends/family no matter how great it may be.

That everyone here so far has said "This is hilarious! I love it!" shows the immaturity of them and that they don't realize that there is a time and place for humour like this. The time and place is internally. It's not in a public "rebranding" moment. I hope that this is a joke b/c otherwise it's shown Lindows as being more childish than MS over this name clash issue.

I must say kudos on the name that could be pronounced "Line Dash".

But I wish somebody would demonstrate that a linux virus can infect an unpatched Lindows machine with helacious results. This would probably be especially feasible for somebody who didn't pay for clik-n-run.

Lindows, or whatever you feel like calling it now, set itself up to be screwed with by Microsoft. It didn't do them any favors to present themselves as an imitation of another well-known product, and it doesn't improve their reputation in th epublic's eyes to respond to the inevitable lawsuit with juvenile antics. Is it any wonder why so many people see Linux as little more than a script-kiddie OS?

Is THIS what you want your boss to think of when you're pitching Linux for the office? Do Linux and OSS a favor: stop supporting Lindows.

There's a Mercedes gap too. I want one and can't afford one, but it's not government's job to do anything about it.
