WHERE in hell did you saw the poster say it is newbie friendly ? FROM TFA: - Criticisms of Gentoo: - Difficult for anyone new to Linux since they get overwhelmed with all the stuff given to them.
- Don't get me wrong, Gentoo is an overwhelmer for any newbie to Linux, but since I'm very comfortable with it, I decided to set it up on his PS3.
- The installation isn't for those who've never spent time at the Linux command line. While the instructions can be understood and followed by everyone, we'd prefer it if total newbies stayed away from it for a little while..
And as for the package management, well, maybe you dislike compiling things, but does that really make it a bad package management ?
i was wondering why everything was boosted for linux without clearly stating that the binairies for windows was almost all only available in 32 bits versions.
many other good posts above explaine this very well.
maybe here is the answer.
Kristopher pioneered AnandTech's coverage in the Display and Optical Storage arenas and most recently has been commissioned to kick off coverage of hardware in the ever expanding Linux world. Using Linux as his primary work environment, Kris was the ideal candidate for AnandTech's endeavors into the Linux world. Kris leverages his vast experience with Linux as well as his hardware knowledge to fight for the Linux community, with the goal of improved hardware and driver support at the top of his priority list.

No wonder why they whould be interested by open source... not even enough to pay for one Microsoft Windows licence...
can land line be applied to wireless lan too ?
if yes,
(wireless lan / walkie talkie / ham radio) users would have to pay for this...

computers can recognize patterns and allow programming based on these patterns to say, know if a mouse is thinking about pushing his water lever.
what would happen to the mouse if, at long term, she knows that by thinking about pushing the lever she don't have to push that lever anymore, the computer can't find that previous pattern because the mice have forgotten the use of the lever. thus reprogramming is re-required.
seems like an infinite loop...
The question will be whether their PR department can spin this into a big enough story to sell to the Average Joe.
but can "Average Joe" understand the implication of buffer overflows ?
try to explain to Homer Simpson why he should upgrade his computer based on buffer overflows protections.
The researcher noted that making them sterile greatly reduced whatever risk there might be for problems later on.
But what kind of effect should we expect on our ecosystem with tose practice? Can locals make any difference between a sterile glowfish a normal fish?
this could bring bad effects on the overall ecosystem if they can't make the difference. Could this bring a downsize in the population if when they tried to breed a glowfish they stop their breeding process ?
