FF7 Advent Children Movie Trailers, Rumors
Wingchild writes "I noticed that the trailers for the new Final Fantasy 7 movie are online at Square-Enix (Squeenix?)'s website, an event as yet unmentioned on Slashdot. Available elsewhere are trailer screenshots and plotline theory. The release will be straight to DVD (Square might still be smarting after the unspectacular performance of The Spirits Within), but it'll still be neat to see what Squeenix is capable of on the ever-moving CG front." S!: The AdventChildren.net fansite also has details of an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, pointing out "the movie [or a new trailer] will be shown in some form at this year's E3", and noting that the past rumor that "the movie will be playable on the PS2 only" has not yet been quashed, although it hasn't been confirmed either.
and noting that the past rumor that "the movie will be playable on the PS2 only" has not yet been quashed, although it hasn't been confirmed either. I'm not well versed in Sony and Sqaure's relationship... but it would seem that to limit the movie to PS2 would severely limit audience from which Square could draw on for sales (unless of course Sony was paying out the ying-yang for sole rights). Of course, it's only a rumor, but one I hope for the sake of those who don't have a PS2, as well for Square, is proven false.
Do you hear that? Its the sound of Squaresoft cashing in on one of their most profitable games ever.
Not that I don't blame them. I'm titilated at the prospect of entirely new content for that particular game's story, I wish instead that they'd gone ahead with the rumored PS2 remakes that where cancelled. At least I wish that had remade 7. With a better story.
Or something.

So basically, what they are doing is just re-releasing FF7, without all the annoying bits where you have to fiddle with the controller.
Ok, its a cheap shot, but was FF7 much more than an interactive movie to begin with? Seems that this is just a logical progression. Take the most successful itteration of the series, improve the graphics and take the last drops of "game" out of it.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
Laziness is the father.
That flash-video thing sucks, a link to an AVI of the trailer.
There are 2 kinds of people in this world: Those who write in decimal and those who don't
I see this as an apology for "The Spirits Within." This is pretty much what everyone wanted when they first heard Square was making a feature movie. Instead, we got this weird sci-fi trip that only relates to Final Fantasy if you look at the philosophical roots.
So, finally they are making the 'REAL' final fantasy movie. Fancy swordfights, magic, etc.
I've watched one trailer so far, and it's really dark, and pretty much 'black and white.' I hope that's not what the movie ends up as.
They need to run the whole gamut. Bright colors, happiness, flying machines, forests, chocobos, maybe even a small section with that crazy gambling joint. They need to have a bunch of the characters from the game, (although hopefully only a came from that cat riding the pink marshmallow thing.)
Don't be afraid to make a movie out of the game...(instead of just a movie with the same name as the game.)
Best Final Fantasy game, meet proper 3d rendered graphics. I'll take eight! I hope they don't decide to do something stupid, like drop a character (Cid and Nanaki/Red XIII come to mind), and/or some major chunk of the plot. I see that Vincent is included, which is cool. I guess that all I can do is wait and see what it's like when it's released...
Every cloud has a silver lining (except for the mushroom shaped ones, which have a lining of Iridium & Strontium 90)
...is the even cooler trailer from FFX-2 International + Last Mission. Just to warn you now: you're going to need an up-to-date DivX codec to be able to play it.
...it seems like a lot of you are either a bit mistaken or have no clue what your talking about, but here's the scoop on Advent Children:
It is NOT a film version of the game. They're not taking the game and removing the gameplay bits (though a movie retelling of FFVII's story would still be worth seeing), they're making a movie sequel to the game. It is an entirely new plotline, taking place two years after the events of FFVII, and it has something to do with a disease called the "Star Mark Syndrome." Not much else about the plot is known.
My thoughts on the movie? It looks bloody awesome. Cloud looks right, the environment looks right, Barret looks...different (but still right), etc. I'm greatly anticipating it.
Now, could somebody fill me in? Is this trailer the one that was released a while ago, when SE announced the movie (the one that started with "Two Years Later," had some motorcycle and fighting bits, and ended with the logo) or is it a whole new enchilada? I'd like to know before I download it on my sucky dialup. Thanks.
I think it's sort of interesting (and humourous) how many people in this topic have mistakenly referred to the character in FF:TSW as "Ben Affleck" (AKA Pancake Head; maybe SP fans can enlighten me: where the hell DID that come from? HAHAHA. Regardless, I only refer to Ben Affleck as Pancake Head since seeing that episode...), when it was actually a CG model that looked A LOT like Ben Affleck but voiced by Alec Baldwin. I was confused too when the movie first had trailer's released; I thought the CG models were based off of the "real-life" actors who were doing their voices. Pretty influencial and powerful stuff, that CG...
