The only reason he is doing is this because they are not commiting the right resources to it. If they would unleash the full might of the US military and drop a few nukes they would get his ass.

Did these teams at all test their robots before competing or did they just straight line it. Surely they would have scoped out their designated path prior to competition and tested some similar paths.

Spent 13 million on this "challenge"? To do what? I thought the "chalengers" where footing their own bill, and just how does laying out a course in the desert cost 13 mill? Typical US Gov project. And besides that, all you GNU/Lefties understand who DARPA is, right? I better not hear one peep about the Evil American War Machine outa you guys.

The one on the CNN page looks like a bog standard RC car... You can get those for $20. I think next year I'll host it and keep the difference in cost...
