Amiga Sells AmigaOS

rocketjam writes "Amiga, Inc. announced today that it has sold the Amiga Operating System to KMOS, Inc., a corporation which 'develops and distributes enabling technology.' The deal included 'all of Amiga's right, title, source code, and all versions, from the "Classic Amiga Operating System" through AmigaOS 4.0 and all subsequent versions.' A spokesman said the sale would have no adverse affect on the release of a consumer version of AmigaOS 4.0 later this year. Amiga said it made the move in order to focus on the growing mobile market. The long saga of AmigaOS 4.0 continues." Reader Da writes "there're always other options should the Amiga curse continue. Also mentioned on OSNews."

You Americans should be ashamed of yourselves!

Detainees at Guantanamo Bay are shackled for up to 15 hours at a time in hand and leg cuffs with metal links which cut into the skin. Their "cells" are wire cages with concrete floors and open to the elements - giving no privacy or protection from the rats, snakes and scorpions loose around the base. A diet of foul water and food up to 10 years out-of-date has left inmates malnourished.

But worst of all is the use of vice girls to torment the most religiously devout detainees. Prisoners who have never seen an "unveiled" woman before are forced to watch as the hookers touched their own naked bodies. One said an American girl had smeared menstrual blood across his face in an act of humiliation!

How dare you call yourselves the land of the free and the defenders of civilization. You make me sick! You are a bunch of depraved lunatics who deserve to drown in pig shit!

I'm a long time ardent Amiga fan (of the old Amiga hardware, not this new-fangled Eyetech/Amiga Int nonsense).

Let me just say -- WOW! They actually released it! It's not just a Fleecy Moss pipedream to lead gullible investors.

Who knows what tomorrow holds? Will Duke Nukem Forever be released this week?

The terrorists rightfully imprisoned at Guantanamo should have thought of this BEFORE they inlisted in terrorist armies.

  With regard to Guantanamo Bay, the US could do itself a major favour in the international community by jumping through the correct hoops. Yes, many of the detainees are paramilitaries detained in Afghanistan and Iraq, but by complying with the Geneva Convention, and placing the detainees under the protection of criminal law (where the rights of the accused are well-defined), accusations of racism and disregard for international law could be avoided.

  Yeah, but the other guys being held there weren't caught in the act (or even in the country you probably think they were arrested in.)
  The way people traditionally determine which ones are terrorists and which ones have the same name as was on a piece of paper hundreds of miles away is by having a trial with evidence presented.

It is obviously right. Race matters... only to racists. Yes, racism exists: it exists anytime anyone cares what race someone was (like the anti-white racist whose comment caused this thread).

  Right, because the only evidence the U.S had was what those four guys told them had happened, right? Obviously they were interogated, said "We didn't do it" and the U.S had to let them go because they said they didn't do it. No evidence you see!
  
  Actually having said all of that, it wouldn't surprise me one bit with Supreme Commander and Overlord Bush II (All Hail!) in charge. I seriously doubt any of the U.S security forces could currently find their asses with both hands and a flashlight right now.
  
  P.S: Anyone seen Osama lately? Well, what about some WMD? No? Maybe once they've successfully found their asses with both hands, the U.S could work a little on solving our current crop of little mysteries.

One "feature" I miss from AmigaOS is the sheer, blazing speed. It flew along, even on 7 MHz machines.

Today, Windows, OS X and Linux+GNOME/KDE run FAR slower than AmigaOS on systems several thousand times more powerful (considering CPU, RAM and HD speeds/capacities). Why should this be?

Sure, the modern system does more, but not several thousand times more. It doesn't make me several thousand times more productive.

Sorry, its not about your comment nor I call you 16 year old. I speak about ignorant teens born into Pentiums who believe higher Mhz is big deal and joking about a computer which changed World.

I know, same people compare 500 Mhz Crays to 3000 Mhz Dell stuff...
