Nokia Shows Off Megapixel Camera Phone
Anonymous Coward writes "According to PC World, the Nokia 7610 has been announced at Cebit in Germany - it boasts a megapixel camera (1152 x 864 pixels), 65,000 color screen, and 4x zoom, along with an MP3 music player and smart phone features that allow users to manage and edit digital images. It can also create short films of up to 10 minutes and with the Movie Director application users can add special effects and music to the video clips." Other readers point out a picture of the phone, which comes with the LifeBlog software "to help people organise the information they capture about their lives on handsets."
why does such commercial anouncements take place on /. ?
so many people have time to loose to cut/paste press communiques, or is that kind of crap originating directly from Nokia Corp?
i know for sure i will _never_ buy this camera! :)
you fail it. off to auschwitz with you, juden.
Personally I'm waiting for camera phones with a film-based camera built in. I don't understand the big hype about digital photography. It's not like pictures are important or anything: we take them of family and friends or of pretty things. tell me why we need a digital copy of every picture we take? I mean sure the ocasional family picture is nice to put on your desktop/digital picture frame but you don't exactly need high res for that, you won't notice any quality difference after scanning.
Or you could always, you know, use a real picture and real frame. I don't know anyone that takes pictures wherever they go; But the media hypes these picture phones so much. I guess they have half of us convinced that we might actually go out and take pictures one day.
ALERT THE PRESSES!
WOOOOW!!! WAY TO GO!!! This is something ubercool! NOKIA rules!!
I dont get whats the big deal with mp3 on handheld devices. I mean there is like 10 other formats out there that compress better than plain old mp3. (compress better = saves space, which is limited on devices like that.)
Ogg vorbis @64kbps is quite smilar (audio quality wise) to mp3@128kbps.
Why they must ABSOLUTELY have mp3 support? Why dont they do like Sony on their Minidisc players (recompress in their format then upload on the device) - the same thing should be done with Vorbis (or WMA, but no thanks for me)
I would stick to vorbis. But until some company offers a cell phone with vorbis and PalmOS/WinCE/whatever, ill stay home.
