Star Wars KOTOR Sequel Confirmed

Ant writes "A story over at Blue's News reveals that the June 2004 print issues of Electronic Gaming Monthly and Computer Gaming World (on newsstands in late April) will confirm a sequel to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and that the game is, as previously rumored, in development at Obsidian Entertainment, the developer formed by ex-Black Isle boss Fergus Urquhart."

    KotOR's best sequel is itself. Play it again. Dark and Light are fun enough, the dialog and story interesting enough, that it's worth every second of your second time through.

      Yeah, I finshed it on light and then got distracted for nearly three months intending to finish it on the dark side. On a whim picked it up again last Sunday, and I can't believe that I put it down for so long. I've been 'rehooked' since.

      The game is just such an awesome combination of exploration and dialogue, and although the action is more laid back than what other games have conditioned me (us?) to, I still get excited by it.

      However, often the game feels I'm a little too much on a 'set of rails'. As much as I don't want to compare it to Morrowind (but will anyway).

      Anyway, the point I'm sort of making is, does anyone else think that the sequel should be more free? Less restrictive? Does anyone want changes to the combat system, or anything else?

      Personally, the only things that annoy me a little are the inventory management, the fact that Bastila isn't as interested in a lesbian relationship with my female character (it's the 21st Century! And she practically threw herself at my original male character) and the enormous guilt every time I do something evil trying to build up dark side points. I felt sad killing wookies.

      Anyway, awesome game, heaps of scope for a marvelous sequel. This can only be good news.

      I'm 'big kev' excited.

      I agree 100% with the "rails" comment, but that's why the game is compelling. KotOR had a GREAT story. Sure, it was like downhill skiing - you could veer a little to the left or the right - you were always going to end up in pretty much the same place at the bottom of the mountain; but what an entertaining ride.

      I don't want to come off sounding like some Star Wars ass-kiss fanboi, but part of what made KotOR good was that you were stuck - precisely - to those "rails" and to the story.

      I took great glee in my darkside replay. I couldn't tell you how many people I had to be nice to my first time through the game that I looked forward to taking revenge out on the second time through.

      No lesbianism huh? Damn.
