A History of Every GUI Ever

An anonymous reader writes "I stumbled upon this site - GUIdebook, that offers a history of every GUI, from command prompts, to GEOS for the commodore 64, through Mac OSX. It's an interesting stroll down memory lane."

I know it's only your .sig but...

I've often wondered if present day Windows OS wasn't merely hacked together GPL code compiled with a custom compiler. The existence of etc/services and etc/protocols, the look and feel of the Windows windowmanager, some of the widgets, all have the feel of a frankenstein Linux. If that were true then perhaps the GPL is viral...

Yeah... much like the average sorority bimbo at a party school, this web server is spent and lying drunk on the floor after the HTTP gang banging it got from /. I can just see it now, that server is saying "I am soooooo drunk"! [hick!] [smile]

I remember back in college there was this girl who was in a sorority named Dora. She was VERY unpleasant and thought the world of herself. She was especially unpleasant to guys like me. You know the type. The girl who IS hot and knows it, but has no desire to blow anyone but the most popular/powerful guy on campus. Usually this means the frat king. Anyway... she never so much as said a word to me and it was all she could do to even look in my direction. But I can't tell you what kind of glee I found myself elevated to when I found out that she had been the receptacle for a large cum drenching at a frat party. It turned out that the "frat king" was a class 1 asshole and slipped her some roofies. Then he got his brothers to join in on the action. By the time it was all done, she'd nearly literally fucked all the guys on frat row. Rumor has it that she was leaking cum on the ground as she tried to walk/crawl home. Oh... believe me, she'd had a serious attitude adjustment after that. It was rewarding to finally see her knocked down more than a few pegs. It nearly made up for all the crap she'd put me through (ignoring me, making fun of me behind my back, laughing at my body sahpe, etc...).

So... think of a good slashdotting as the electronic equivalent of the tradtional sorority chick gang banging. It will always bring a smile to your face.

I don't even follow the main story links anymore, but look for a google cache post in the discussion section. Wouldn't it be easier to simply offer a google cache link in the story itself?

Would slashdot have the bandwidth to carry a cache of the pages they link to for at least the first 24hours that a story is out?

Slashdot's not as fun as it used to be. Now it has an agenda to push, for "your rights online."

Used to just be an excellent place for tech news and fun articles like this. Now we have to sit through MP3 piracy justifications, DRM rants, anti-"M$" bullshit, GPL-dissertations (boooooring), etc.
