THG On Migrating To Linux

inphinity writes "The fine folks over at Tom's Hardware have posted an interesting guide titled Migrating from Windows to Linux. In the first of what will hopefully be several parts, they describe what steps to take to back up critical data and move to open-source apps. All in all, a fairly in-depth and comprehensive step-by-step guide. As a nice touch, they've even included a downloadable checklist for confused people."

Linux : Think outside the MS box

Your Head : Think outside of your ass.

Linux is not quite as popular as your propaganda would suggest.

I'm a Windows user, because I don't have the extra PC to learn linux and I can't afford the downtime that even a dual-boot system would have during my learning curve.

I'm anxious to try this "The OpenCD" thing that a fellow posted above. OSS apps on the Windows OS seems like the perfect solution for me. :)

But you must choose between these 50 window managers and you need to install these 15 gui libraries.

You are the FIRST DEBIAN ZEALOT to proclaim that DEBIAN IS GOOD FOR EVERYONE! Even if it really isn't. And what will you get for your obvious zealotous troll? MODDED UP OF COURSE!. Some fucktard debian moderator will be doing his search for the word "debian" in this thread and find your post and immediately MOD IT UP!. Even though you are completely out of touch with reality. debian is definitely note a great distro no matter who it's for. It's great for people that need to pick an OS based on groupthink so they can feel good about themselves. Good for people that think they are "sticking it to that man!" by using debian, and ONLY debian because it's the only PURE LINUX. But it's NOT the best first choice for a complete newbie. So sorry. Thank you for playing!
