Rocket Science vs. Barry Bonds

Ray Radlein writes "How about a good old-fashioned Sports story? With its multitude of different statistical measures, baseball has always had the highest Geek Quotient of any major sport. Alpha Geeks of Baseball have included former relief pitcher Rob Murphy, who put his Computer Science degree to good use writing software to evaluate thoroughbred race horses, and Boston Red Sox ace and probable future Hall of Famer Curt Schilling, who not only runs a company that makes hex-based war games, but once got embroiled in an on-field feud due to Everquest. However, Baseball Geeks have a new hero to look up to: Jason Szuminski, who on Sunday became the first MIT graduate to pitch in a major league baseball game. His degree in Aerospace Engineering must have stood him in good stead as he observed the ballistic trajectory of a Barry Bonds fly ball which just barely stayed inside the Padres' new stadium."

    What is wrong with today's youth? Why are they completely incapable of writing a single sentence in English?

    MONDAY: juss went to school.. nuttins really.. watched finding nemo and harry potter.. :]

    YESTERDAY: went wid my mom to go see sumthins bouts tennis lessons.. fer my sister! lol im soo bad at tennis.. den juss came home.. dentist checkup.. den i had tuh go to this school meeting thing.. i saw c. j.! :] wid her mommy and daddy.. hehe mann it was so boring..

    I marked it as understated. Passport is weak and won't make it. RFID, however, will. Remember this story? This is the alpha test for RFIDs. (the punctuation-challenged can pretend I wrote "RFID's") Once they've kicked the bugs out of the system, we'll see the military using RFIDs in lieu of dogtags (or any other id). After that, all people going in|out of the US will have|need them. Then...imagine all of the "case history" cards about the size of credit cards you could hand over in a hospital with your history on it? Skip it. The first time you're admitted without a sub-q RFID, they'll add one. In the future, they'll just read your RFID and retrieve your information. And when you're born, you'll get one, just like you get a Social Security Number now. Finally, it'll be touted as a replacement for credit cards, ATM cards, driver licenses, etc. Then when it's too late...

    I'm from SD and I went to 2/3 of the games this weekend. Here's a FACT - BARRY BONDS USES STEROIDS. There is so much evidence:

    1) HIS TRAINER is being charged with distributing steroids.

    2) He went from 150 lbs to 230 lbs like overnight.

    3) His facial features have totally changed - a sign of steroid use.

    4) He hit 73 HRs when he didn't even hit 50 previously - HE WAS JUICING IN THE OFFSEASON.

    Anyway it's all good because the Padres just beat the stinking Giants 2/3 games. PADRES will win the NL west this year behind BRIAN GILES and PHIL NEVIN - two true ballers who DON'T USE STEROIDS.

    If you believe Bonds doesn't use roids then you probably think OJ is innocent too. WAKE UP PEOPLE - BONDS IS A DIRTY CHEATER.
