Olsen Twins Sue Acclaim For Unpaid Royalties

filtur writes "The Olsen twins (that got your attention) are suing video game maker Acclaim for royalties regarding their Olsen twins branded video games. Acclaim has apparently run the brand into the ground." Once dubbed "the most powerful young women in Hollywood," the money involved seems almost trivial by comparison to even their individual net worths, but it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Ordinarily I'd dismiss this as silly, but seeing someone sue possibly the most wrongheaded and misguided software company out there makes me laugh:) (Anyone who doesn't know what I mean, go look up their history. It's high-larious.)

More to the point, Mary-Kate and Ashley are about 48 days away from reaching legal age.

    Line starts behind me guys:)

It's time to ditch Acclaim and find another video game publisher... of course, you wouldn't want to be associated with such a company anyway.

You may also want to have a chat with, say, Tony Hawk, about being involved in the game production. I mean, you wouldn't want to slap your name on just any old merch, now would you?

Now, when do we finally get a Super Olsen Sisters Advance?

(Not actually knowing that much about the twins, I'm wondering if there's any difference between them that can be translated to gameplay. Like, one of them can jump higher, but the other can bash bricks with her head or something).

...if I had any idea who these Olson twins are. Perhaps the are a US phenomenon that we in the Old World know nothing about? And if that is the case, how did Acclaim think they could make a nice video game franchise out of this one?

They (both) played the youngest child on the American sit-com Full House. When the show ended, they were in their early teens and they began making various straight to video films targetted at preteen girls. Apparently these videos made a lot of money and they invested it well. In addition to video games they've produced many other products as well. They have a lot of money and have a history of making sound business decisions so I'd say that they stand a good chance of winning this lawsuit.

They've also recorded a dozen or so CDs, starting when they were very young. They probably made more off of the videos, but most young girls who like them know them more from their music.

As the father of an 8 year-old girl who loves Mary-Kate and Ashley, I have had the... er... pleasure of listening to every CD they've published. It frightens me, but I can actually sing along to most all of their songs.
