Olsen Twins Sue Acclaim For Unpaid Royalties
filtur writes "The Olsen twins (that got your attention) are suing video game maker Acclaim for royalties regarding their Olsen twins branded video games. Acclaim has apparently run the brand into the ground." Once dubbed "the most powerful young women in Hollywood," the money involved seems almost trivial by comparison to even their individual net worths, but it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
Ordinarily I'd dismiss this as silly, but seeing someone sue possibly the most wrongheaded and misguided software company out there makes me laugh:) (Anyone who doesn't know what I mean, go look up their history. It's high-larious.)
More to the point, Mary-Kate and Ashley are about 48 days away from reaching legal age.
Line starts behind me guys:)

Go not unto/. for advice, for you will be told both yea and nay (but have nothing to do with the question)
not legal for sex but legal to sue, how does that work out?
except being two identical looking hot teens?
:D
hell, how do you run such a 'brand' to ground in the first place?
.
what puzzless me is how you do an american videogame about two hot teens without ending up with a pile of crap(except for few hot pics but anyways..).. sure the japs might succeed in such a thing but that's ENTIRELY different story
world was created 5 seconds before this post as it is.
It's time to ditch Acclaim and find another video game publisher... of course, you wouldn't want to be associated with such a company anyway.
You may also want to have a chat with, say, Tony Hawk, about being involved in the game production. I mean, you wouldn't want to slap your name on just any old merch, now would you?
Now, when do we finally get a Super Olsen Sisters Advance?
(Not actually knowing that much about the twins, I'm wondering if there's any difference between them that can be translated to gameplay. Like, one of them can jump higher, but the other can bash bricks with her head or something).
...if I had any idea who these Olson twins are. Perhaps the are a US phenomenon that we in the Old World know nothing about? And if that is the case, how did Acclaim think they could make a nice video game franchise out of this one?
Just was not up to the high quality consumers expect of the Olsen twin's name. Who would have thought?
Their sleepover book may be turned into a softcore movie via Cinemax in a decade or so, viva Capitalism!!
An Education is the Font of All Liberty
I really couldn't care less about the Olsen twins otherwise (and I know I'm probably the only guy here who doesn't have their 18th birthday marked on a calendar somewhere), but anybody who goes after Acclaim makes them alright in my book. May they go bankrupt and take their copies of BMX XXX with them.
Acclaim should declare they're now developing exclusively for the Phantom. The two deserve each other.
Blissful are those who think that "Mary Kate and Ashley" is 3 girls when they first hear the names.
Don't blame Durga. I voted for Centauri.
...but it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
I, for one, couldn't care less. And I'm sure I'm not alone.
Star Trek and the Olsen Twins having something remotely in common.

You know, I actually bought that game since it looked so bad. Kmart was having an out-of-business sale and I couldn't resist picking it up for $5.
Imagine the reflection I had on myself when I realized I was spending 5 minutes with passing the snowboard level. the darn thing's controls suck and all she could say was "ouch!"
Just on the surface, you gotta side with the hot twins. Acclaim could've easily made half decent games and plopped the MK&A brand on it. Olsen Twins Bedazzled, Olsen Twins Music Trivia, Olsen Twins Pictionary. No one was looking for Halflife level Olsen Twins games, but Acclaim, as usual, screwed it up by releasing drek. In thier defense though, Acclaim has released nothing but crap since 1998 so maybe the twins should've seen it coming.

Of course they didn't get royalties, you only get them if the game SELLS!
The fact that Google cites Slashdot for news, or that currently this article is rated as the most relevant on Google news.

Don't royalties have to wait until after the game's first sale?
