Build Your Own Heavy Metal Server

MC68040 writes "Well, this has to be one of the weirdest computer mods I've seen this far. The heavy metal pc takes compting to maybe not a new but different dimension. Computing on wheels, and we're not talking a car computer here. Have a look for yourself, 2x3.2 GHz on wheels, it's sure worth seeing if you're interested in mods."

which would also be a great design. Even cooler if you could have some mini-rc satellite droids (w/ video&audio telemetry) that could come be controlled from the PC. Then, to be able to control the whole thing from the web....

Sounds like my new summer project...

Oh puh-leeze. Okay, so I'll admit, there are cool, tasteful, artistic PC case mods, like this one.

I just looked at that "this one" of yours, and I think it's a pretty bitchin'-lookin' retro-stylin' PC case. True, I wouldn't have one of those in my own house, but if you've got a 1940's-1950's style house, with all kinds of old appliances (they don't make 'em like they used to), then this case would fit right in.

are ugly and frankly are the computer equivalent of that.

But I replied to you because I wanted to say how right you are about this one... Cuz guess what? rice_burners_suck!!

Conclusion? Case mods done with good taste are cool. Stupid looking case mods look really dumb.

My boss was looking at Laser cutting machines today (he's an engraver on the side), and I told him to check out the VersaLaser that they gave away for the Screen Savers Case Mod Contest. Well, when I was searching TechTV, I stumbled accross a video of this beast. So I tracked down the website and was showing it to my boss for about a half hour. Needless to say, I come back 4 hours later and find the darn thing on the front page of Slashdot! I'm glad I got to look while it was still up. :-)

I don't think that is a fair way of looking at the issue.

It's much like saying not to feel bad for someone who got shot to death because they should have been wearing a bullet proof vest, that is, on the off hand chance that they may come in contact with an armed mad man while going through their daily routine.

Or the newly wed couple who both get killed in a car crash while driving to their honeymoon destination. It was their own fault for not wearing helmets and 5 point seatbelts in their car.

I know these are extremes, but it's only to demonstrate how your logic can be applied to place blame on anyone who is minding their own business, then get bamboozled.

Personally, any hits from /. get redirected back to /. on sites I've worked with. The same with Fark, metanews, and the other "link monsters". It's not like the people ever buy anything or click a banner when visiting from those types of sites anyway.. :)
