China Developing own Standards
J ROC writes "Encouraged by their government Chinese electronics firms are shunning technological protocols invented abroad and developing their own, according to this article. The Chinese have developed several standards including EVD to replace DVD standards, and TD-SCDMA to replace the CDMA cell phone standard found elsewhere. The reasons seem to be partly based on "techno-nationalism", and Chinese firms growing tired of paying foreign patent fees. While this may force foreign firms to lower their patent fees, some experts warn that China risks isolating itself if it creates standards that are incompatible with the rest of the world."
Ooh, let's make our own non-interoperable standards cuz we're elite chinese shit.
How about's ya join the rest of the free world you stupid chink motherfuckers and stop being such fucking lame ass jokes.
You think the rest of the world doesn't know how lame y'all are? Coverup your government, failing space agency, lame retro-technology.
Fucking rice farmers wouldn't know what was good for you unless Mao fucking stapled it to your fucking foreheads your fucking self.
Die chinese die!
Someday, I'll have a real sig.
China is currently facing the dilemma of joining the world community yet somehow maintaining it's authoritarian (yes they are still communist) government.
Look's like yet another slashdotter failed social studies. China is a Socialist nation, not a Communist one. And thier elected President would be shocked to hear otherwise.
Let me guess, you thought China was still ruled by Chairman Mao. Before you comment on world politics, you should learn about the governments you are insulting.
Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
This is a fine technical distinction, and of course some people may remember repeated promises of the Soviet leaders of "communism in year ????". But from the standpoint of a westerner, there is no distinction between a socialist country moving towards comunism or a communist country - either way, it is a dictatorship that deprives people of their basic freedom to fulfill the material needs of the rulers. So while one may take comfort in the fact that "China is not communist" technically, it is still one of the worst governments in the world when it comes to basic human rights, and there is no deying it.
And of course the reason they come up with their own standards is very simple - they do not want their networks and computer devices to be interoperable with anything in the west. Having incompatible standards goes a long way towards constricting the flow of information from the west.
