Based on your reply, you are not a professional in the legal field. I can see you are confused by what discovery is, where it comes from, and how it's used.
Being a legal assistant, let me assure you that though this is a bit far-fetched, all the article says is that it's discovery, and discovery doesn't mean that it came from the records department of IBM. It "could" have turned up durings some investigators interview with a disgrunted ex-SCOer, or some other questionable source.
To get the most complete picture possible, attorneys will pull in discovery from as many sources as possible. Then through comparison it's determined how reliable those sources are and which, if any, of them will actually be presented in court.
But, SCO does have a history of grasping at straws...
Ok, it's total bullshit. It was a privately funded tournament, had nothing to do with the governement. Besides, name one country that hasn't commited "mass-murder",then when you realise your own country isn't on that list, fuck off and cry me some more justifications.
Seeing as most autistics tend to be very very good with mathmatics, him being a chess genius and an aut would make a bit of sense.
His paranoid conspiracies aside, the only thing this man did that was illegal was play a chess game in a country we didn't like. Not exactly a dangerous criminal mastermind. Just a guy would played a game in violation of sanctions.
This is total bullshit, Bobby Fisher should be freed.
The law firm I work for just recently started using linux servers to store our documents to keep up with the new electronic filing rules. And the boss (the lawyer) still thinks the best way to view a website is to print it out and read it (not kidding, and among lawyers this type of thing is not rare).
Since all judges were once lawyers, and lawyers must be forced to even acknowlege the tech tools around them (on their desk even), I think it's a good bet to say that the Justice's would be shoked to hear they even have computers (let alone that they run linux).
All of this from a thread that started by pointing out that america is the only nation on the globe that isn't metric. It started (not by me) by pointing out the seperationist additude prevalent in this country. By making note that some people see zero room for improvement in their homeland, no matter how good it is, and the rest of world needs to bow to that fact.
And look at you people crawling from the wood work... "This nation is perfect" "How dare you say it could be better" *sniff* "You only want to rule us all" *sniff* *sniff* "We have liberty, but if you disagree, GET OUT" *sniff* *cry*.
Yes, it's sad, but that's the reason that, much to chagrin of those who feel I should blindly love everything about this nation and never pay attention to the for the people by the people stuff, I feel the need to stick around and at least try to make a difference.
It's even sadder to realize that to find someone aware of american politics, for the most part, you have to look outside of america.
You are absolutly correct, America is a good country, better than many, equal with some. If you'll please note the parent to my original comment, what I objected to was the use of the word great. The word great, when used with the obvious emotion behind it that the parent had, implies a utopia.
A good country yes, never did I say otherwise, "The Best" now that I disagree with strongly.
Canada, the EU, Japan to name a few are in my opinion equals in social achievement to the USA. It was the blind patriotism also exibited by many of the Anonymous Cowards that I was speaking out against. It's one thing to love a place, but to ignore the ways that place could improve and not seek to make that which you love better is pre idiocy.
We are good yes, but to be great we've got a lot of work to do. And we'll need the world as a whole's help.
I'm certain you can agree.
A small aside, never did I mention "bad government".
Yes, it is the real world you are describing. Good job. But also a factor in that real world are customers that never return and return whatever they bought for just such lack of concern by the people who made/sold it to them.
Also in that real world are bosses who will, if not fire you, make sure you never get promoted to any position of responsibility. Because after all, if you can't do trivial things like spot a scratch or proof your own writting, what makes them think you can be trusted to do something important?
In that real world you speak of, there are thousands of jobless losers sitting on their couchs wondering why they can't hold a job for more than a year and their references from old jobs are bad.
I suppose you are Yet Another one of my countrymen who thinks that Henry Ford invented the automobile and that it's funny our current leader brags about not reading the news. Ever.
It's people like you who make me ashamed to live here. But For however long it takes people like me will continue to try to better your world for you until you wake up and realize there is nothing great about this country.
If it was "the best place" we'd all have free medicine when we need it, a job, food free from chemicals, food period, less violence in the streets, no racism (which is rampant, from all sides), inexpensive quality housing, both parents (if there are two) in any given family wouldn't have to work (if they can find work) to support their children, we'd actually have cars that live up to emissions standards, it would be safe to eat the fish from our waterways, it would be safe to walk through a city (any city) at night, people would be able to hold police accountable to the same laws they supposedly uphold, we'd stop declairing "war" on abstract concepts ("war on terror" is working about as well as "war on drugs" did), we wouldn't have to filter our water to get rid of the poisons our water treatment plants put in it, we'd never have another case of a high school grad who couldn't read (thousands a year), there'd be nearly free quality higher education for average income people, there'd be less homeless...
I'll stop there for now, but if you ever get tired of just saying it a great place and want to actually help make it a great place, help is needed.
As long as you can remove any evidence, yes. Or I was actually thinking of mistakes where no one else has or is likely to notice...
Wow, I mean wow...
Be sure to keep an up to date list of the companies you work for somewhere in the public domain. I, for one, suddenly have a strong urge to make sure you are nowhere near anything I plan to buy/use/depend on.
They'll do far better next time. For the purpose of learning more about their craft and what it will take to acomplish their goal, these (small) failures did far more to advance them than a "perfect" flight ever would have. A report of a "perfect" flight would have me worried. This report has me cheering.
No, I have thought through the issue, and as my original post stated since I don't ever recieve spam, I don't even begin to concider it a problem. I've had the same email for 5 years, still useful, not threatened. So no, I don't care if you think me a troll, so long as you realize I don't concider your whining to indicate a problem. Because that's all I see, people whining. I see no spam in my inbox.
You mean to tell me that all this time people defining "spam" as "unsolicited email" (in other words, unwanted) were wrong? Wow. Shocked.
As for your recycling comment, in my area they charge us by the pound to recycle, the average monthly bill is around $80. We'll add the glossy non-recycle paper that most of it is comprised of to the trash bill since the recycling boys refuse to take it, $50 a month. Now, compared to the zero spam I recieve via my $11 per month dsl, which one do you think you'd be more concerned over?
Which one do I care more about "paying for"?
...in the fact that I don't get spam, I don't use filters and I don't give out my email address. Oddly enough I don't get spam, that's right, none.
I find people's fixation on digital junk mail disturbing. What about laws to stop real junk mail? You know, that stuff that fills your "real" mailbox? That's a far larger problem. After all, you can just delete spam, how do you delete 17lbs of paper?
The law firm I work for has had one of these on all the emails we send out for years.
In fact, here it is.

I'd be very interested to find out if this disclamer can actually do, in a legal arena, what it says it does.
China is currently facing the dilemma of joining the world community yet somehow maintaining it's authoritarian (yes they are still communist) government.
Look's like yet another slashdotter failed social studies. China is a Socialist nation, not a Communist one. And thier elected President would be shocked to hear otherwise.
Let me guess, you thought China was still ruled by Chairman Mao. Before you comment on world politics, you should learn about the governments you are insulting.
This is definitely a neat little gizmo, that will help gather information that would otherwise be hard to collect.
You are absolutely correct, after all, surveillance satellites have a very difficult time seeing over fences.
Just another stupid toy that helps kill people, it'll probably make some defense contractor rich. Isn't that what this war is about.
As far as your "Red China" notion goes (it's spelt "China" by the way) all you have done is made yourself sound like a racist. They (the Chinese) make your clothes, your household products, most of your steel, and nearly all the parts that make up your computer. So, you trust them with nearly every aspect of your life (after all, what would happen if all the things they supply you suddenly started to fail?) why do you imply we can't trust "them" with our technology, because when you actually look at it, we already do.
Sadly, there is a fatal flaw in your logic. It is the fact that the internet is a bunch of computers communicating via the TCP/IP protocol. A non-american invented this protocol. A bunch of Americans decided to use this invention. They did not change or add to the protocol, to this day said protocol still works the way it did when first invented. Therefore, all the Americans did was put someone else's invention to work. They used an invention exactly as it was intended to be used.
So where in this did Americans invent something?
Using an invention does not mean you invented it, it just means that you used it. Every day I use to inventions, the toothbrush and toothpaste. But I feel that it's my invention because I combine the two. Does that make sense? Nope.
Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Sorry. All three were inovated and implemented by Americans, but the technologies they are build on were invented by non-Americans one and all.
Oh, and Henry Ford didn't invent the automobile either, That was Karl Benz. A German.
every year you read a few stories about how a worker got dizzy from the fumes and fell into a big tank of manure.
And then of course, there are all the people hwo die each year due to the side effects of gas huffing. The countless auto fires. The suicides by petrolium engine fumes......not to mention the numerous accidents at oil refineries.
No fuel is safe. You just have to pick the fuel whos source you can deal with. I'd rather power our county on fuel derived from domestic animal waste than oil from overseas.
I mean, would there be anyone willing to fight a war over shit? No, and you wouldn't have to, it's everywhere. No more fighting between nations over energy infrastructure. This is the kind of solution even the third world can afford to maintain.
Based on your reply, you are not a professional in the legal field. I can see you are confused by what discovery is, where it comes from, and how it's used.
...the stupidest argument ever. Period.
Use whatever OS, apps and hardware work for you on an individual basis.
If you dislike what someone else likes, to bad for you. Every human is different, with different needs. Diversity is necessary.
End of Story.

Much insecurity I sense in you...

...simply wire a 1/8" stereo jack input into you car sound system's amplifier, and plug ANY portable audio device with a headphone output in to it.
Costs about $3 to do it.

it's not petrolium, so can't really be useful. Besides, isn't methane dangerous??
Stuff like this is far from new. What would be a new twist however is if our society accually starts using this and other ideas like it.
All in all, damn fine work, I just hope this kind of thing becomes widespread. Soon.
