First IA64 Windows Virus Released
NinjaPablo writes "W64.RugRat.3344 has been released as a proof of concept virus. It is the first virus which will only run on Windows on the IA64 platform, and uses APIs from 3 native DLLs to avoid crashing applications. It infects files that are in the same folder as the virus and in all subfolders. The author of the virus has also written other concept virii in the past."
The plural of is virii, not viruses.
Just as the plural for penis is penii. Or a single, multi-headed penis is also penii.

The only place I find the word "virii" are in wannabe geek sub-culture web sites like Slashdot and New Order...while everyone else in the real world calls them "viruses" which IS plurl for virus

YOU ASSHOLE! 'virii' is acceptable to those of us who believe that you can coin new terms in a dead language. Since it follows normal latin grammar practice or adding an 'i' to something to pluralize it, it doesn't matter if there was originally no Latin word for the plural of virus. THERE FUCKING IS NOW!!! 'virii' is a real word! Deal with it losers! Check here if you don't believe me. These folks are pros in the business and they have embraced the word. Just fucking get over it!!!

Your pet-pieve may be misspoken or written language, my pet-pieve is people like you who put up barriers to communication because of technical difficulty on your part.
Language is ALL about context. Words have no real meaning at all. They are simply arbitrary phoenmes that we utter to fool ourselves into thinking that we are not animals. If you believe that words do have meaning, then you are simply a babbling follower, and not a leader. It must be hard living with such limitations, musn't it? How do you even cope? Oh that's right. The original post was a rant against the use of the word "virii." You're confused. No wonder you think nobody has a problem understanding you; your own language-comprehension kills are sub-par.
When you think of a meaning and get a word for that meaning, then that is a meaningful, real, word.

Okay, my misunderstanding. The point remains: "virii" is not the plural of "virus." The fact that people can figure out what the speaker means is not the same as saying that everybody understands.
