Do a lot of you guys have that many books? I own less than 100 books and feel it already is a burden for the amount of size and space they take up.
I am trying to switch to ebooks for the most part - but some books I just feel I want a physical copy.
1. You are screwing over whoever gave you the stuff in exchange for the goods.
2. You are screwing over nobody really, it is not like you went to that college and took advantage of their professors, resources, etc.
They would be the same if you paid for your schooling with bad cheques
Reading books in the bookstore (skimming through them) makes me purchase MORE books. Listening to music I download leads me to purchase MORE albums. Watching movies I download leads me to buy MORE dvds.
It seems impossible that industries rely on such backwards business strategy as to punish people from browsing their content.
Telling everyone how reading Men are [from] Mars and Women are from Venus has improved you marriage is okay. Telling everyone how praying with your wife and kids everyday has improved your marriage is not.
Praying with your wife and kids will not improve your marriage. The side effect of spending time with your wife and kids will, but if you are never home, bang hundreds of other women and are a cokehead, praying with your wife and kids at night will not improve your marriage. If you told me you prayed with your wife and kids everyday to improve your marriage, I would suggest you a fool to believe that. Reading that Men are from Mars book could ACTUALLY improve your marriage by suggesting where communications commonly break down between the genders, as a result of their differences in thinking processes.
She noticed that of all her kids that my wife and I have the happiest marriage. I told her that a large part of that came from both of us following our faiths teachings.
Again...there is no causality here. Perhaps you two have more in common on that particular subject, but faith teachings will not give you a happy marriage.
I fully encourage anyone to live any sort of religious life that they choose, but the implications that this will somehow result in you living a "happier" or "better" life is ridiculous. Religion is a motivation on the macro level, it does not influence micro portions of your life.
And finally, I hope that you do not spend Sundays teaching your children how your religion is the only way to live, I hope you teach them the life lessons tied into the messages. For example, Jesus turning one piece of bread into many isn't meant to be taught as a "Jesus is all powerful", but a "sharing is good for all people" message.
Are individuals going to be able to force someone like Slashdot to hand over IP records? And then are they going to be able to force an ISP to hand over details?
Or...is this only going to be used by big companies that want to censor peoples' opinions?
I truly hope the first case of this being used tracks down one of my posts. I really hope I get an email saying "You must remove this post blah blah" so I can go add another that says "Fuck you, I am Canadian".
On a serious note,
How are so many girls getting out of the kitchen? And maintaining jobs while pregnant? And getting jobs while barefoot?(haha)
Consider that 50 years ago, women were second class citizens. That is less than a generation ago.
So lets stop wondering why there aren't many women in CS, and lets start looking at the big picture, things have drastically changed in society. Of course there will never be "equality", because of people's interests in careers. I bet there aren't nearly as many men in certain positions because of personal preference too.
Here is the reality of the situation. We are getting a biased opinion from someone explaining how "irreplaceable" he is.
This guy could be having trouble completing his job because he lacks the skills required. It could be taking him 2 days per workstation to get it on the network.
I strongly suggest this guy does not kick up a storm and claim he is critical and needs more assistance before he considers how good he really is at his job. Plugging network cables in does not make you critical.
But if you were the parent sitting next to me in the theatre yesterday explaining everything that was happening to the child who continually asked "whats happening mommy" : not cool.
I didn't want to say anything in that situation --- but it made the movie experience about 20% less enjoyable.
Naked airlines. No carry-on.
Where can I claim my prize?
No firewall? Of course not!
Microsoft servers are notorious for their invulnerability.
That is a metric assload of books.

Pint of blood? You mean pound of flesh. Yes, the one between your legs. /x-WoWer

Is everyone missing a key point here?
IE7 will be preloaded in Windows. So buying Windows will "force" you to use IE7 which will "force" you to use MSN search.
Here is a picture of our library taken during this exam period

Yeah I just bought four of them and I don't really care. You wouldn't have a problem with this if you didn't have anything to hide.
You sir, are an idiot.
What if the RIAA decides to charge you? Can you really afford to fight it or is it easier to settle?
You think their practices are acceptable?
I emailed the author yesterday suggesting a correction.
I did not recieve a reply.

Wouldnt it make more sense to throw the machetes?

Firstly, check your router to make sure you have the appropriate ports opened/forwarding
Then, do NOT use the standard port for BT.
Cheers
I do not mean to be rude, but...

Re-abuse of a past pun

I also recommend GEB - an eternal golden braid
It discusses quite a bit of godel...and is quite well written.
Written by Dogulas R Hofstadter, and is on my desk!

Apparently its rather empty under this hood.
Dear Miss Hilton,
You were automatically selected by our customer profiling for a free trial of this service.
In addition, my balls will self destruct in your mouth free of charge.
Don't piss in my ear and tell me its raining!
Next, you are going to tell me that you can make some sort of 802.11 antenna with a pringles can.
And whats with this "do it yourself" building projects? My fingers are too greasy and fat to perform such feats.
Bringing your 3 year old: fine by me.
