32,000 "Why I'm Tired" Emails

An anonymous reader writes "Slate has a story about the guy who registered tired.com in 1997 and put up on the home page "Are you tired? Tell us why." He's collected 32,000 emails from tired people, including an one from a Navy ship at sea that's too good to be fake."

Isn't it funny how Slashdot is ignoring the fact that Red Hat's CFO quit, AND that they are restating their earning for the past three years AND that the SEC is now investigating them?

If MSFT had done the same thing, it would be splashed all over the place, but when Red Hat delves in financial misdoings, they just bury it. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Good greif, it's a bookeeping change to satify the SEC auditors, that moves some profits and expenses around from one quarter or month to another.

More money here, less money there, but none missing or "hidden" losses.

I know this is offtopic, but it is not quite as simple as you make out (yes, I just RTFA).

Basically, you can't just move revenues around as and when you feel like it, there are rules you have to adhere to. It might seem trivial to you, but it obviously doesn't to the SEC and (more importantly) the stock markets. Also, RH's Chief Financial Officer resigned over this (by the look of it) so the company are taking this seriously themselves too.

After nearly forty years in practice, a gynecologist decided to retire to pursue his first love, auto mechanics. He enrolled at the local community college and worked very hard, but worried that he was too old to compete with his younger classmates. Sure enough, on the final exam the other students finished in about two hours, while it took him the full four hours allocated. Afterwards, as he washed up, he asked his teacher about his grade. "I gave you a score of 150 points out of 100 possible," said the teacher. "What? How can that be?" "Well, I gave you 50 points for disassembling the engine perfectly, another 50 points for reassembling the engine perfectly, and an additional 50 points for doing the whole damn job through the muffler!"
