Have you not seen the ads where they let you get a lesser valued product (or something that cannot be sold) free when you buy a higher priced one ? This is similar to that, the makers of the Windows drm threw this in for free to cheer Sony up.
so MS used this not only for promotion but for some last minute testing too, to get a feel for what real life customers would face. That is kinda neat .
besides atleast in this case you really dont know if the issue could be with the freq used by wallmart scanners, they are known to cut corners wherever possible and *might* be using non std devices. This could be the case with the consumers too and i guess MS have factored that in now...
not all songs are equal. in most of todays manifactured music , you have lots of production costs going into a select few songs and the rest of the album made up of cheaper fillers.
maybe the online sales trends are such that these expensive songs sell whole lot more than the fillers (as is to be expected). thus from the cost involved in producing an album becomes harder to recover with all the songs being priced equal.
now, i am not trying to argue the merits / demerits of the new methods of song making. just trying to see why they would not just want this but might need this.
also reducing the costs of songs that sell less would probably have little or no positive impact of their sales as its not the cost but actual likability that keeps the ppl from buying them.so reducing the costs would further reduce any revunue coming from them....
maybe because they see this new model of music production as something that works ( the cd sales do seem to point to it), they are trying to tweak the online market to their benifit ?
so what happens if i have installed the sony program on my PC ? does it stay in the memory and prevent me from ripping ? Why cant i just kill the process and follow the shift/ cdex route ? seems a lot less hassle compared to burning a cd and then ripping it.
and this just seems like a no cost publicity stunt.....since the record guys are seen as the bad guys anyway, why not boost the bands popularity using it ?
I love two handed gameplay (the addon analog stick just feels real weird) and this looks really really cramped . Every unintentional nudge or move of my wrist now would cause me change my char position ?
during gameplay i frequently change my grip and holding positions intutively without having to stop/pause the game in any way..now how do i do that ?
I guess cost would be the biggest factor . there are significant psychological price points and having a sufficiently differentiated variant across them would increase their sales.
*if* they do get most of the games to work equally well on all the variants , then i really dont see what the issue is.
They have communicated, rather strongly, to the devolopers about this same thing. So I would expect all the flagship games to be equally playable across all the models. sure, there could be a minor set of games that dont do this, but MS would make sure the buyer is aware of it.
and anything that gives me more choice is definitely good in my books.
while it does sound like a big step forward, esp considering "eFUSE is technology independent, does not require introduction of new materials, tools or processes" . But how exactly is it selfhealing ?
nothing is mentioned abt the redundancy required for the reroutings... its obvious not all kinds of faults can be handled this way. so, do they try to predict possible faults and build in workarounds.. or do they just use the natural design to handle whatever can be ?....how does this affect the way they design circuits... make more generic blocks etc ?..and maybe i didnt really understand the article...but isnt it more of a self correcting rather than self healing feature?
well.. maybe not just yet
but the LBT project promises to change that.
Sure, its slightly behind schedule, but its racing towards its first light pretty fast.
Quoth the article, "One key query - searching the data on historical trades to identify maximum trade values - has been cut from 36 seconds to 0.03 seconds."
if they lost about 99.999% of the data during the migrations....
most of the customers at starbucks can afford even slightly pricier options (just got to position it right to appeal to their vanity)
also i guess I would love to try something like this on impulse esp. on long rides... stop over for a coffee.. try some new tracks.. pick up a new car music to get back to my ride...
well.. i guess decisions to support credentials like these also contribte to the overall lowering of pay scales

not true always... removing the watermark!= getting back original unaltered image.
removing the watermark= getting an image without watermark.
as you said in many cases even moderately strong watermarks are impossible to identify without access to originals , but there are cases where a good judgement can be made / a series of standard operatio0ns carried out to significantly alter/remove most common kinds of watermarks...
really ?
more popular to most of the web users than say....a site that says click here to play ?
its actually John Simley
This would be a good case to find out about the enforcabilities of an EULA .
have any others been tested in courts ?
Nope, not really .

unless you can ensure that all those who upload/download from you are legit users who are paying HBO for HBOs content , you are not in the clear.
even then, it is redistribution for which you need express permission unlike time shifting which is under fair use.
of course ianal eventhough this seems fairly straightforward...

this has to be some kind of joke
all we have to do is keep making louder and louder ipods and the problem is licked.
