Nintendo DS Gets Sleeker Final Design, Same Name

Ravi Hiranand writes "Nintendo has announced the final name of their Nintendo DS handheld, and it will be called... Nintendo DS. The final design of the system is viewable on their official site (screenshot) - looks sleeker and far less chunky, but still a bit awkward. There's also an English-language press release full of waffly language, but the only things you need to know are that there are 120 DS games in development (20 from Nintendo) and that the price, release date and launch lineup will be announced later."

The answer is "yes". Sony's PSP is going to mop the floor with this thing.

While the geek in me likes idea of the 2 screens it's wider that is nicer.

If it's anything like past Nintendo handhelds, that figure isn't that impressive. Breakdown will be roughly:

    Various Mario rehashes: 10
    Various Metroids: 3
    Pokemon: 15
    Bad Movie Tie-Ins: 85
    Various Zelda rehashs: 4
    Bad Sports Games: 3
Original Ideas: 0 /only half joking

Isn't a GBA SP only around 100 dollars now? Are you really concerned over saving that much money? You must have bigger problems than that in your life! By the time this thing hits US shores, your 100 dollars will I'm sure have worn itself out in play. Also, it's not even clear from your post whether you'd buy the GBS if it was backwards compatible or not. You might be saying "if it's backwards, I won't buy the SP so I don't have two systems" or you could be arguing "if it's backwards, I will buy the SP so I can play all the great games out for it forever". Please write clearer arguments in the future, and do not worry about a measly 100 dollars.

Who cares about this crap? For crying out loud, unplug yourself for 5 minutes and interact with the rest of the world. People can't even leave home without their precious games or portable DVD players any more. Sheesh!
