How 8 Pixels Cost Microsoft Millions

NubKnacker writes "Economic Times, one of India's biggest business daily's is carrying a story about how a small colouring mistake forced Microsoft to recall 200,000 copies of Windows 95. This wouldn't be the first time that has happened to Microsoft. From the article, "Microsoft has also managed to upset women and entire countries. A Spanish-language version of Windows XP, destined for Latin American markets, asked users to select their gender between "not specified," "male" or "bitch," because of an unfortunate error in translation." Ouch!"

it is sort of like when you are at a theme restaurant and they have dude/cowgirl, actor/actress or similiar on the doors of their bathrooms.

In Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the Wild West Casino, when you go into the bathrooms, the stall doors DO have pictures of dudes/cowgirls on the doors.

Not really on topic to the main story but on tpic to your post so go ahead mods, mark it Offtopic. You marked my last post as Flamebait and rejected my last story about the secrecy behind the companies who are doing testing for the touch-screen voting but post a dupe of a previous story so knock yourselves out.

The Wild West Casino is part of Ballys. Go to the Ballys in the middle of the boardwalk, next to Sands. If you come in to Ballys off the boardwalk go through the casino floor and bear left at the ATM machine on the far side (left side). Go straight ahead, past the moving walkway on your right, and you'll walk straight into the Wild West Casino.

If you come in through the parking garage go down the elevator to the casino level. Go down the moving walkway and turn right immediately at the end instead of going left to Ballys.

I try to go to AC once a year and have been going there for many years.

I have also been to Vegas but this casino is not in Vegas.

P.S. The buffet at the top of the stairs in Wild West is very good. Maybe a tad expensive for an afternoon lunch but a good value for a dinner. Plenty to choose from (8 stations?) and good quality food.

Wild Wild West is right next to Caesar's, I believe. Funny you bring up Vegas, because it reminds me of the strip-style casinos.

If some American company released some software that showed the US as a territory of, say, Saudi Arabia it seems as though the response of the US government would be something along the lines of putting them on a terrorist watch list. If they get really unlucky, they get shipped off to Guantanamo. I guess the difference is that in India, you actually get *charged* with something... Just because you don't agree with various laws in another country doesn't automatically make that country "unfree". If you want to do business in a foreign country, you are (and should be) subject to their laws. If you can't handle that, don't do business there. It's that simple.

"First person interitave"? I think you mean the familiar imperative. Va is also the third person present. "No va" is a complete sentence, meaning "he/she/it doesn't go." The whole story is total hogwash, never the less; "nova" is also a Spanish word, and real, live Spanish speakers have no problem with the distinction. My Puerto Rican grandfather actually owned a Nova, and was mildly amused when the "No Va" thing was pointed out to him after years of ownership, but didn't come up with it on his own.
