Apple iPod with Video and WiFi Capabilities?

An anonymous reader writes "Apple is currently seeking an engineer for its iPod hardware division. However, they are not looking for just any engineer. They are seeking an engineer with WiFi and Video integration experience. 'The iPod group is looking for a Hardware Engineer. Experience in the following areas is important: system integration, digital logic, SDRAM, Flash, ASIC's, processor selection, ATAPI, various communication protocols (ie: GSM, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11, Firewire, and USB), display types and video and analog integration.'"

Good question. Probably free considering how much slashdot's editors wack off about each typcial boring Apple news items.

So, Apple posted an ad to hire a guy with audio and video experience! Amazing. Because I know with most companies they typically are only looking for people that only have the required experience needed for a job in it's current state. Companies never ever look for employees who might have some skill sets outside of the required ones.

And how long does it take to go through the whole hiring process, and then get them up to speed on a very important product? 6 months? More?

Archos already has 'em. They connect to the PC as a USB drive too, so there's no proprietary OS-specific BS.

I just wanted to mention this now, because in a year or two when Apple releases their video-iPod, the zealots will come out in droves claiming Apple "invented" it and everything else is a rip-off of Apple's design.

Just like they claim Apple invented the mouse, GUI based OS, portable MP3 player, WiFi, the laser printer, LCD monitor, etc..

Why not stuff a GPS in there too? That would be cool. Sell a ruggedized version with optional topo map software, maybe even a location-based voice note taking setup. The hardware is all out there, just begging to be integrated. DeLorme has packages with all the hardware and software alreay put together, so there's even a potential tech partner to help them avoid re-inventing the wheel.
