Mac OS X Running On Xbox

PasteEater writes "The good people over at XBox Scene have the scoop. Mac OS X has been successfully installed on a modified Xbox. What does this mean? Well, it's no Xbox Media Center, but it does prove that nerds are at the forefront once again!"

It's not Mac OS X that's slow, it's PearPC. Duh.

yes, not too bad, but the fact that it's "just a port from a different linux flavor to another" basically makes it much less impressive.

I use StyleXP to provide a MacOSX feel to my Windows XP install because I think that the interface is vastly superior. However, I am unwilling to switch to a platform that has less than 10% of the games and applications that I currently use, nor am I willing to spend 5 times what I spent on my current computer to get a computer with absolutely no increase in performance.

Switching to a Mac makes absolutely no sense if you think about it financially. The hardware is more expensive, and all of my software would need to be purchased again. Like I said, I'm not going to switch platforms without good reason, and I'm certainly not going to switch when there are extremely good reasons not to.

Christ.... I cant get an OS X capable machine for less then then $300.... and Mac people arent like PC people. They seem to opt for "Give to Charity" or "Throw it away" when getting rid of an old mac. Ive actually been told "No" when asking if I could have a G3 that was being thrown out. The woman would RATHER it be thrown out then give it to someone who would use it. That wasnt the last either. I have had several Mac people go buy new macs, and before hand Id say "Dont throw your old one out. Ill take it". Sure enough, I come back and look at their new machine... "Where is your old one?" "THe garbage men took it"

You have also implied quite elegantly why you don't want an OS X or any other Apple-badged machine. I tried "getting in" with the Apple community late last year.. outside of some animal "rights" (as opposed to welfare) orgs I've never met such a bunch of self-obsessed rich-kid zealots.
