South Korean Music Retailers Dying

terrymaster69 writes "According to this Reuters feature, 95% of South Korean music retail businesses have failed in the last year. 'While South Korea is not alone in seeing a downturn, the drop has been greatly accentuated and particularly deep because of the country's high-speed Internet access and a youth culture that uses some of the most sophisticated gadgets available.' Is this really a problem or just a natural progression?"

I love this expression. So basically there is no story here? Nothing that matters really. You know what, I think outsourcing programmers to India is a natural progression as well. You know what it means... I'm pissed off reading stupid rants of egoist assholes who only think about themself.

"...college genres), and a cheaper price online. "

You just don't get it do you. I PREFER to wander around a physical shop(sometimes with friends) looking at some physical goods, to sitting on my own in a room with a PC and a modem. If you can't understand why then theres no point in continuing this discussion and if that is the case then I feel a bit sorry for you.

What do you expect when theres a pirate cd shop on every corner? Theres no need for internet piracy for dvds and cds in Korea, the real thing is everywhere and very cheap.

Additionally, Koreans are just awful at business. I think its something to do with the government-run chaebols (Daewoo, Hyundai, LG, Samsung) dominating the economy for so long that there is just no culture of enterprise left. They swarm like lemmings over whatever cliff the mob decides is the next big thing for this week (pc baangs, nore baangs, etc).

Sometimes its hard to know which is more depressing, the north with its drooling nuclear retards or the south filled with arrogant GI's, endless churches and banal suburbia.
