Winners of the 'Google CodeJam 2004' Contest

astrab writes "The Argentinian programmer Sergio Sancho, 30, won the 'Google Code Jam 2004' programming contest, whose final was held yesterday in Google HQ (Mountain View, CA), and pocketed $10,000. According to Dirson, Sergio studies at UBA (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina) and works at the Research and Development Center which Core Security owns in Buenos Aires.     Holy shit (no pun intended) - how the hell did they do that? i'm using firefox w/ most javascript disabled, and i don't know how it took control of the browser like that.

    Don't click the link, especially if you're in a public lab. it puts a picture of a person, with what's supposed to be crap on their face. and the browser window jumps aruond the screen so it's hard to go back or do anything. and out of the speaker comes a loud blasting "hey everybody - i'm looking at gay porno" which repeats over and over.

    So - while it's super funny - how the hell did they code that? thank goodness i wasn't in a public lab clicking on that link (which by all means appeared to come from gmail too).

    10K in the U.S. is not much. Rewards should be set by cost of living. Otherwise any country with a high currency value is doomed to become stupid. Due to government set exchange rates. So much for free trade.

    As I said dozens of times and dozens of times I got -1 score, Google using beowulf and Linux doesn't mean they are "good" people.
