Firefox Shooting For 10 Percent

Random BedHead Ed writes "An article on ZDNet Monday features an interview with Bart Decrem, the Mozilla organization spokesman, who says that by the end of next year they expect to have 10% of the browser share. "We have the momentum," he says. He attributes some of the success to faster browsing and a lack of software bloat, and suggests that other open source projects might see similar success if they trim features. The article also quotes some very interesting figures from ZDNet's own web servers. About 9% of ZDnet visitors were using a Mozilla browser in February; now in it's at 19%." The average for OSTG overall is about 30%.

  1. I used Firefox for a while but switched back by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Flamebait

I was having too many issues with pages that loaded fine in IE giving "document is empty" in Firefox, as well as Firefox forgetting how to open PDFs among other filetypes, and the annoying "download has completed" window that I couldn't get rid of. I forget why I switched to firefox, but now at least I have a reason to switch back to IE: it's still easier and less annoying.

look at the stats, most people visiting slashdot.org use Internet Explorer... the numbers prove this as a fact. Yet most of these people rail against the evils of Microsoft and the endless exploits for IE. Sure they can say "I'm using useragent disguiser!" or "i'm using a computer at work."

I say bullshit. Most of the people on slashdot are hypocrits and willing to put their employers networks in an extreme security risk because they're lazy and unmotivated assholes.

Does this suprise anybody ? It shouldn't. There are better web forums than slashdot these days, first time I've visited in two weeks. This site doesn't deserve as many hits as it gets, but tv shows like "Fear Factor" and "The Swan" dont deserve as many viewers either...

I guess people enjoy the enquirer like status that slashdot has.... pathetic.
