Halo 2 Released

mjxg writes "Halo 2 has finally hit the shelves for hardcore fans. VNUnet speaks about the long lines and the 12:01am release that many stores participated in. Many people obtained the Limited Collector's Edition. Eventually we'll get word of the final first day sales to see if Halo 2 can top the sales charts for the year, or possibly become the most popular console game in history. It is already estimated to top the all-time opening day entertainment sales charts."

:-) I figure it will get more clicks than via my own website. Unfortunately I haven't been able to lure the fanatical gamers and techs to my own site. Maybe I should offer dating tips. Yeah, that might do it. ;-)

Halo was annoying because the game entirely green, blue, and brown. Hurts the eyes after awhile, you know?

So, has Halo 2 added support for the color "red"?

    Oh please.

You PC "gamerz" and your bullshit elitism. Halo didn't do well because everyone who owns an Xbox is a dummy who cant run a PC. Halo did well because it's a good game, plain and simple.

Here's some news that may upset you so you might want to stop reading:

A few years ago, I worked with a charity supervising mentally handicapped kids who were putting together PCs for resale. CPU goes in this slot, RAM sticks go in these slots, PCI cards go into the other slots. Hooking up a PC is no more complicated or technical than hooking up an XBox.

My point is, building your own "rig", installing a game and playing it does not make you some kind of technical genious.

In fact, there are many who say it makes you an idiot to spend $3000 on a gaming PC when you can have a better experience on a $150 console.

    In short, get over yourself.

You must take into account how many people returned GTA:SA, and/or their original PS2, once they realized that they'd have to fight through endless error messages while playing the game.

Myself and 3 others have had the same issues with 1st run PS2s while playing the game. It seems that the good ol' Sony DVD lasers just aren't up to the job. On the other hand, my 1st run XBOX just loves running Halo 2. Go Microsoft! *ducks*

I just strolled into Best Buy and there were dozens, if not hundreds, of copies of Halo 2 on the shelves. Many, many copies of the "limited edition" were still there too. If this is such a huge game then why is it that at the same Best Buy on the release date of GTA: SA there were none to be found?

Gotta wonder if the pre-orders that MS has been touting is just the orders that got shipped out to all the stores or if it's actual numbers of consumer purchased units.

I doubt that Halo 2 will come close to a third of the sales expected of GTA: SA. The first weeks' sales of GTA: SA were expected to have topped 4.5 million units. Halo 2 might get somewhere near that number after it has been out for while. There will probably be a huge dropoff in sales after the release date.

Heck, Halo hasn't sold much more than 3 million copies worldwide as of last year, otherwise there would have been talk about it, and it has been out for nearly 3 years now.
