Ion-Propulsion Craft Reaches The Moon
Rollie Hawk writes "It ain't warp speed, but it's exciting new technology at work! The European Space Agency put an ion-propelled rocket into lunar orbit today. While not much horsepower is generated, this method of propulsion could be ideal for travel in near-weightless space as it does not require any combustion to occur."
They should have chosen the ion pulse cannon, it kills marines!
The moon? Great job Europe! Maybe in another 40 years you'll put a man into space!

On the SURFACE, this looks like a scientific advance. However, as we push ourselves to get out into Space we have it set in our minds that what works on Earth (propulsion) will work in Space. I don't agree with that mindset, so I view all the monies being used as rather pissed away. If I was sitting in a restaurant on the Moon I still wouldn't feel any differently. Propulsion as we have it now is antiquated, deficient, and inefficient. I do have a better system but I can't release it just yet. And I may never release it because all the people holding the giant purse strings JAMMED WITH YOU ALL'S TAX MONEY are stuck in yesterday's propulsion systems, and they aren't going to let me into their club. I have written the university developing that ion drive about 3 weeks ago and they didn't return my call. All I can say then is say good-bye to your hard-earned money. It's indeed unfortunate that all the people holding your loot are so stuck in cold molasses, mired in place by the weight of their egos... but there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it. I've given away many inventions on my website newpath4.com, but I'll not give this one away. My system isn't just an "outer space" engine. It works inside a planet's gravity and produces an anti-gravity force, enough to do the Fifth Element cars. You may never see them, and that's pretty sad. You aren't buying an ION DRIVE, you're paying to shore up a bunch of giant egos who would rather rot in hell than make me an offer. What a waste, but it will continue. It always does. Humans are so weighted down by irrelevant crap it's a wonder we don't still live in caves.
