Since when did POWs have a right to an attorney? Me thinks you're confused.

And they are not covered by the Geneva convention since they are not following the Geneva convention when they fight. To qualify for the protections offered you have to follow the guidelines set.

What the world (at least the EU) was waiting for was a revolution led by the people of Irak.

Wow. What an ignorant comment. The Iraqi people tried to revolt in 1992 and were absolutely slaughtered. Hundreds of thousands dead.

The only thing the EU was waiting for was more kick backs from the Oil for Food program. But don't look for your press to report this.

    Oh, and btw: it's Iraq

The French just want to provide stability in that country, since there are French companies operating there

Yes, it's just horrible how those men, who tried to kill US soldiers the day before, weren't given flowers and chocolates. And no, the marine shouldn't have shot him, but a little bit of perspective is needed here.

I'm assuming the press in your country isn't covering the blood filled torture chambers and slaughter houses that the troops have found? Or how the innocent Iraqis are glad that the US has come, but they wish the US had come earlier.

France's opposition to the US war in Iraq had *nothing* to do with priciple

Yeah, it's strange that the oil for fraud program is getting little play isn't it? How much oil money was funneled the French way, $2.78 billion in vouchers (worth between ~$300 million and $1 billion in kick backs). So, the US is fighting this "horrible" war for oil. But the French opposed the war because of bribe money from illegal oil sales, which it is now calculated to have netted Saddam over $20 billion in profits.

Saddam was smart. Bribe the politicians and the press. Good call.
