WinAmp's Death Greatly Exaggerated
robyannetta writes "In a previous story, we heard that WinAmp was
down for the count. Apparently, this is not the case.
Here is a note by Eric Caoili that says "No we weren't axed. We haven't even seen anyone with an axe. There was this one guy who came up to us to axe us a question, but that's about it.""
I think we've just found the new leader of Palestine, folks.

Just like BSD!
BSD is dead, long live BSD.
I gave up on winamp ages ago. Now I use and recommend QCD for window users. It has a lot features that I love. I really wish this could be on Linux.
Apparently, this is not the case.

Ooohh I'm really scared now, poindexter.
I know there are some big programs out on the net that used to cost money, then they turned free and finally they turned into OOS. Does anyone know if there are any plans to make WinAmp open source?
It would be one of the most active projects on SF (long live Subversion, though) and eventually there would be a Linux port.
Anyone know about anything like this?
Someone mentioned that the Lone Coder was not dead cause Patrick Volkerding is still with us. I saw a letter he wrote yesterday about being seriously ill that I posted today, but was rejected of course because it is definately not News for Nerds if Pat is sick.
Anyway, here is the letter.
