I find the article above very informative except for the humerous flaws and word play, but there is obviously some stupid comment I could make BUT AS A COURTASY I SAVED YOU THE TIME.

Mix humans with creatures any day. Just don't the the converse.
Dolphins that crave Pepsi Cola... Leopards with advertisements instead of spots... Parrots that recite food commercials in grocery stores... Apes that get addicted to gambling... Squirrels genetically engineered by aluminum siding companies to chew through any vinyl or wooden siding they can find... HIV-positive Mosquitoes with a thirst for Negro blood...

When the creature dies, all its memories of "hardship" stored in its neural net melt into the same pile of amino-acid goop. It's irrelevant.
As for dehumanizing, I think we all need some humility forcibly smacked into us by reality now and then.
