Sims 2: University Announced
Voodoo Extreme has the news that the first expansion for the Sims 2 has been announced. Sims 2: University will allow young adult sims to experience all the joys of college life. "Sims can choose from one of 11 majors and by keeping their grades on track, they'll secure a final degree and open up 4 new career paths. Players will enjoy all-new college based wants and fears that are tied to their Sims' social life and academic goals which will lead to new rewards and powers that will help them achieve their goals and aspirations in college and beyond." Ahh...but will there be LAN parties?
Sweet! All the debauchery I missed in college, I can now get in a videogame!
But i suppose it gets round the 'go to work' problem that the sims had, students don't go to lectures.
Instead you can goto the grant office, get cash then just go to the pub/bar and try and get laid while taking drugs.
I wonder, can you become a chemist or grow weed to sell?
My sim just graduated Harvard with a double major!
I, on the other hand, just dropped out of community college. Just couldn't find the time to go to school in my busy life.
Ahh...but will there be LAN parties?
90% of my college LAN parties involved trying to get a IPX and Windows 95 network started for Doom. These kids today have it easy.
A pretty good idea to integrate into the Sims game. Defitnely add some cool content that would add atleast another 20 hours of game play. I enjoyed playing the Sims 2, but I did get bored of it since the game play was similiar to the original. Sims 2 had some nice new content that kept me entertained for quite awhile, but after I explored it all I couldn't play it anymore. I guess I got burnt out on the original Sims. I would say $19.99 is a good number for an extra 20 hours of game content, but no more than that. The overall Sims game play was outplayed in the original for me so all I have to look forward to is new game content for a reasonable price. I personally didn't think that the Sims 2 was worth the price tag when I bought it. It was just a graphics upgrade with new content...that and no pool table to put in my house :-)
I couldn't think of anything witty to say, so...you're stuck with this.
Getting wasted at a kegger...
Getting laid by the hot chick you just met...
Initiation to get in the frat...
Streaking across the football field...
Lord knows us nerds would jump at the opportunity to do this (if only in virtual reality).
I thought leisure suit larry had the "get drunk and laid" game market cornered...
Lets see so they must have added a McDonald's type of job, Wal-mart type, and assembly line jobs to the jobs aviable to Sims2.
I'm going to make a George Castanza sim and take up marine biology and architecture. I'll fulfill his dreams.
Then he'll get a job at Vandalay industries on the side.
Sims 2: Keg Party!
The World Wide Web is dying. Soon, we shall have only the Internet.
We don't have Majors in the UK University system, We do have Jeremy Paxman on Unversity Chalange.
Now that would be cool having my Sym being quized by Paxo
Wouldn't it be nice if schools got all the money they wanted and the army had to hold jumble sales for guns
If you're in college, can you get college credit when your instructor threatens to flunk you for playing The Sims 2 all the time?
Makes you wonder if there will be those who spend more time in their virtual college classes instead of the real ones....

It would interesting if this was extended to create an actual online university, where you'd actually have to learn the stuff to progress your character. Edutainment back from the dead!
I wonder if it'll add facility on computers to download music and get sued by the RIAA scenario.

I'm playing this game right now. It sucks. Arbitrary grading, traffic trying to get to class, books costing $100+.. wait.. you mean playing behind a computer? Oh.. my bad. ;P

In light of recent accusations made towards EA Games. I think that people should seriously consider boycotting games produced by EA.
... thats gay.
The ultimate irony: Students failing out of college because they spend too much time playing The Sims.
Sad thing is, I'm so lazy, I'd rather attend classes and do projects in The Sims rather than travel across campus!
Sigs are for Terrorists.
Dear Penthouse Forum: I never thought it would happen to me. I am a sophomore Sim at Maxis Community College. I had just installed the nude hack when suddenly the doorbell rang...

You want the truthiness? You can't handle the truthiness!
So, do you get to slowly pay down the $40,000 in student loans over the next 30 years of your Sim's life? Also, when do we get The Sims 2: Midlife Crisis and The Sims 2: The Retirement Years (but you can't really retire because your employer just went bankrupt and took your 401(k) with them)? No, I'm not middle-aged, but I think it's funny that EA is convincing millions of people that managing someone else's life is more fulfilling than managing their own.

Yet another reason to hate "The Sims" and all it's incarnations.
I already live "Life v1.0", so why do I need the sims?
Not All Who Wander Are Lost
688 was one of my favorite games back in the day. You actually had to learn stuff to be good at that one. Forgot all about how fun that was, thanks heh.
Funny thing is, back when I was in school I remember skipping a week's worth of classes to play Fallout2. So now the Sims2 gives me the ability to simulate doing that all over again? Oorg it makes my head spin.
For me, college was one big, four year long lan party. I'd wake up, log on, play some games, go to class (usually...), come back to the dorm, rally up some UT or Starcraft with the guys on the floor, maybe do some studying (if I had an exam the next day or a program due), play some more UT, Diablo II, or Homeworld, crash (usually), and wake up to do it over again. Toss some vodka martinis into the mix on weekends, and you have my college experience. The last two years I was there, I worked in the desktop support department and wound up playing video games with my salaried, university employed bosses -- and getting paid to do it! I have no idea how I managed to graduate with honors or lose my virginity...
Oh yeah, that's right... State school.
